You asked for European licenses. A1, available at age of 16, 125cc, 15ish horses. Sometimes you can ride bikes of that category with your car license (or small test to open it up when you got your car license), so perfect for car drivers to get into 2 wheels. Next up, A2 (age 18+) doesn't have a displacement limit, but rather it is limited to 48 hp and a power to weight ratio, which is why very light bikes like the KTM 390 have to be a little lower power. Bikes in that category are for example KTM duke 390, Z400/Ninja 400, Rebel 500, CB500 etc and most maxi scooters like the Beverly 400 or Vespa GTS 300. Above that, you have the unrestricted A license.

Great video Ray..Yamaha makes the Xmax scooter..The under seat storage and optional top cases for scooters can add additional carry locations. Glad I found your channel…Peace..

I would tell you go sit on one, And see how you feel! But I've seen people smaller than that Ride them with no problem.

In Europe there is an almost 2000€ price difference between the Beverly and an MT-07. Plus you get the top case (and I think wind shield) for free, plus the under seat storage, adding that amount of luggage to a motorcycle is another substantial price increase. But of course, the target audience for both vehicles is rather different.

Coming from many years of motorcycle riding and commuting, standard, sport and cruiser, my Kawasaki Vulcan 900 LT is a great freeway cruiser, but is a pain in town (heat, gear changing, weight), so I decided to try the BV 400 S scooter. Wow, this thing is so much fun and can truly do it all. Nimble in town and easily freeway capable (85+ mph two-up) and *very* smooth and planted; even at those speeds. My wife (pillion) says it's the most comfortable two wheeler of all of the bikes I've had. Cons? The rider's seating position is downright odd (sit up and beg, best suited to in-town riding) but you get used to it. Also, the rider's derriere gets a little painful after a couple of hours, so I bought an air cushion to help with that. ' Wife says the pillion seat is wonderful as-is. I'm 5'11" and the windshield is way too small for me, with lots of wind noise, so I bought a Givi tall windshield, specifically for the BV 400, which is wonderful. I also bought the Piaggio color co-ordinated 36 liter top box which holds a ton of stuff, and a Givi tunnel bag. Those combined with the pretty good underseat storage space, make it a real two-up long weekend (or longer) touring bike. ~65 mpg too. Yes, it is quite expensive, but is a top quality scooter with a fairly large dealer support network. ' Wish I'd discovered scooters earlier, but I'm thinking that my younger, more macho self, wouldn't have entertained the thought of riding a scooter 😂
