Old school rider here, 51 years old. We were doing table tops off quarter pipes thinking we were rad. This is just demented and so epic

I remember those days, I use to race back in the early 80's. I was terrible, just didn't have confidence but I was hanging with some good racers. Number 2 expert 9 yr old an I think number 1 expert 19 yr old in Jerry Dubert, he was on the cover of a BMX Plus back in the day doing a table top. My dad an some other dude drove us from Southern Oregon to Long Beach California back in 81 or 82 to go race in the last NBA or ABA big race. All the pros of the time were there, Harry Larry for team Diamondback, Stu Thompson for Redline an I can't remember the rest of their names. Torker, Race Inc, Robinson, they were all there. Jerry, the 19 yr old expert won the whole thing, the 9 or 10 year old Shawn Cox got second I think an this dude named Mark Wagui (pronounced Wa Gee) placed in first every race except the final where he wrecked. Probably choked, he was good though. He was like a top 16 expert I think, maybe 14. Our little group from Medford Oregon did well though for the most part. I was good at baseball an basketball but not bike racing, a lot of it is mindset. We have to believe we can win to actually win an I didn't. Table top was the big jump back then..... My dad moved us so much that I never kept in contact with any of those guys, by the time I got to Tumwater middle school in 8th grade it was my eighth different school district an tenth school change. Sucked.
