Wow really excited for this Hawaii series! The water looks beautiful but too many people, excited to see which other beachs yall visit in Hawaii

man that beach looks beautiful, and the food you had in waikiki looked good, excited to see what's more to come!

I think many people don't think to ride transit there but it's convenient and takes you to most anywhere you wanna go on various sides of the island. I've rented cars but honestly the bus is all you need especially if you only have 7 days. It can be fun being amongst locals in buses too. There is so much to see all over the island.

Cool video Dan. Visited Waikiki last October for the 1st time in 14 years. There was still a lot of COVID restrictions, but I still managed to have a good time. I visited the Ala Moana Center a lot for cheaps. Huge food court with lots of variety. I had Korean, Thai, Hawaiian and Malaysian food there. Also, Zippy's was a cool little diner.

Great video! We've been to Waikiki 2 times and are going back in a couple of months. I love it there! Yes it's "touristy" but the island of Oahu has everything you want: the touristy areas, the mountains & hiking, history & culture, food, and great beaches on every side of the island. Iolani Palace a few miles from Waikiki beach was awesome experience.

Just a little pronounciation tip: Those of us who live here usually say Wai-ki-KI (stress the last syllable) as opposed to Wai-KI-ki. Also, spam mu-su-BI (stress the last syllable again) instead of spam mu-SU-bi. I notice a lot of tourists say mu-SU-bi.

First of all, love the matching shirts 😀. Secondly, I’m glad you’re rating the food numerically. Hawai’i is on my short list so I will be using your video as a reference. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the trip. 🏝

I know you’re not from Hawaii so I get it that you don’t know the difference of local food and Hawaiian food Local food is a combination of all different ethnic backgrounds as opposed to authentic Hawaiian food from indigenous native Hawaiian people. Just want to clarify so that other tourists that come here know the difference

I could not believe how crowded the beach was while driving down Kalakaua. It was wall-to-wall people. There were many beaches on the North Shore that we had all to ourselves. Really miss the food. Love Hawaii! 🤙

Glad the rainbow came out for you guys 🥰. Yes, Waikiki beach is too much for me. Only went there if we had a canoe race. And the 7 eleven stores came in handy several times. I live on he windward side, so we would stay in Waikiki when we partied there. That steak plate looked ono, and that acai bowl….I could go for that right now!! Enjoy your trip! Those ice cream sandwiches are bomb and they have many different flavors. The Kona coffee/chocolate cookie is also a must try.

I was born and raised on Oahu but currently live in CA. When I fly back, I avoid Waikiki like the plaque. Overcrowded with heavy traffic. You gotta pack up and head to the other side of the island. There’s much more to Oahu than Waikiki.

I lived here all my life and agree with you on Waikiki. I rarely go there unless someone is having a party/wedding in one of the hotels. But, I believe this is Dan's first time in Hawaii so yeah, you kind of HAVE to go to Waikiki and cross that off your bucket list.

You need to eat at the JADE DYNASTY RESTAURANT in the ALA MOANA shopping center. I think it's hawaii #1 DIM SUM restaurant. ALOOOOOOOOOOOHA !!!!!! Eddie from Vegas. Not to be a downer… but there are so many other fabulous places on Oahu that cost a lot less. I was there for 5 weeks and enjoyed Kailua and North Shore hospitality without a price tag. Waikiki is over-rated and all tourism. Thank you for sharing your video, and keep doing what you do!

Great video, Waikiki is cool, but northshore is better because there's no high rises, but all of hawaii is awesome 😀 I love that spam Wasabi store, been there many times, but $5.50 for one is definitely expensive, but what am I talking about everything is expensive these days.

How much did the food cost in Waikiki? I bet it was pretty expensive...best to go out of Waikiki (kind of like going off the Las Vegas Strip). You should check out Sean Kaleponi on KZread. He is a local that does videos on the places to eat on Oahu. Did you just go to Lefty J's in Las Vegas? He's from Kauai, Hawaii. Good food. Hawaii and NOLA has the most unique fusion foods in the US.

Dude, the way you say Waikiki is weird. 🤣

I wouldn't say "avoid Waikiki at all costs" but avoid for the majority of your time. There's nothing wrong with the area, but it's just constant commotion. Even on the beach, you're surrounded by non-stop energy. Our routine is almost always to stay elsewhere on the island, spend 90% of our time on the windward side or north shore and only visit Waikiki for specific things like a brewery visit... then get out again. If your intentions for visiting Hawaii are any amount of relaxation, Waikiki isn't the easiest place to do this.

The tourist industry is what fuels the island and your video title “Avoid Waikiki?” Is not what the Aloha Spirit is all about especially when you understand how many locals depend on people traveling there like yourself to feed their families. It just seemed harsh is all but like one of your followers said Oahu has everything you could want, if one area does not like your taste then move on to another that is better…I did get a chuckle each time you said Waikiki (Wack-kee-kee) actually it’s pronounced Wack-key-key.
