1E5505 - Vancouver, BC - RTX

It's Beyond Electric. Vancouver Fire Rescue Services chose the RTX for its unparalleled ergonomics, mobility, and ability to fit easy-to-access equipment they need in a narrow footprint. When an apparatus may be needed on 900 calls per month, Vancouver's firefighters rely on the right tool for the job. Thank you to Dep. Chief Moore, Asst. Chief Hayes, and Capt. Dighton for going in depth on Canada’s first electric fire engine.

Whats the overall hoseload on this vehicle? Especially the left hosebed not shown in the video?

Looks nice and pretty. I’m still a little skeptical of durability under real world conditions. 🤔

If anyone has ever Driven in Vancouver Canada, you know how narrow streets are, lots of traffic especially at start or end of work days. Even the NEW regular Pumpers department are getting in today brand new purchase for all Departments thay are still huge in my Humble opinion This new Hybrid ( electric) Pumper was thought out well. So glad the FF are liking it.😊 Just amazing rig. 😊

DESIGNED and built at least partially in Europe, thus the styling! I hope all these EV apparatus last within their respective cities, the very limited charging available will soon probably become apparent! Personally I’m a retired US F/fighter-medic and greatly prefer the U.S. styles (“Voltera” from Pierce and the “Vector” from the REV group, E-1, KME, etc..)

Not Vancouver, it's a temperate rainforest at sea level.

Awful lot of gadgets & moving parts. Plenty of things to maintain or replace. A short wheelbase is a must in tight streets. I've driven in Vancouver BC. Not much different than any streets in most of NA cities. More narrow streets in places like Nova Scotia, New England or Philadelphia. The older the town, the tighter the roadways. Electrification is coming. I get it, but it isn't the fixitall some folks think it will be. New tech brings new problems with it. I believe in the KISS Principle, Keep It Simple & Safe. Not seeing that applied well here.

These are hybrid based, with ev first drive mode but on-board diesel back up for longer calls. The electric allows for better power, quieter ops in narrow neighborhoods and maintenance is no different then new all diesel with electric pump controller, ergo drawers and pulls.

What moving parts do you see here that aren’t on a diesel-powered apparatus?
