Funny enough in 1999 I was six years old and that year my family moved cross country to California and I remember my Mom had gotten me a Gameboy Color for the road. I remember playing games and looking out the road at all the sights.... simpler times.

I was also a 6 year old who moved to (a new town in) California in 1999. That was also the first thing I thought of seeing the picture. What an oddly specific memory that so many people probably share.

the little girl in the photo is eating a mcflurry I can tell because of the shape of the spoon, man I love this asthetic. reminds me of when i lived in a small town and we would come home from a road trip and there would gradually be less and less buildings until it was just forest. I especially loved it when it was sunset and it would be raining making the color that nice dark green color. these mixes just punch me back to 2005.

Did some research on the development of this truck. Designs were started in 2003. Which is probably why the back seat gives off a 90s vibe

I loved road trips as a kid. Still do actually

The thumbnail captures the road trip vibe quite well. Even though you're constantly moving, it feels like going nowhere. Like a moving liminal space. I get the same feeling on planes, especially with the window seat. Maybe that's the next mix.

Oh I remember the road trip back home my family and I had when I was 6 in 1999. In fact, it was 25 years ago this month. January 1999, we were heading back home from Las Vegas after my oldest sister got married. As we were driving home to Simi Valley, California, our light blue van (1988 Dodge Grand Caravan LE) breaks down in Lancaster, California. My dad spent 45 minutes trying to figure out what was wrong with our van until my mom finally convinced him to call someone to have the van towed back home. Fortunately, we had another Caravan at home, which was a dark green 1997 Dodge Grand Caravan. The green van is what my mom told my dad they should've drove to Vegas instead of the blue one, because the '97 was newer and would have more ability to make the entire trip. But, my dad said we would be fine in the '88. The only time the '88 would make an entire trip is when my dad would drive it to and from work. The blue '88 was my dad's van and the green '97 was my mom's van.
