1997 NBA Finals Game 1, Jordan 31 pts and buzzer beater
Спорт
High quality version: • 1997 NBA Finals Game 1...
Jordan hits the game winning shot in game 1 of the 1997 NBA Finals against the Utah Jazz. He also put in 31 points on 13/27 shooting, had 4 rebounds, and had 8 assists.
Karl Malone was the MVP of the regular season that year, and he jokingly said he was just "borrowing it from Jordan." Jordan, however, was the one who came up with big plays down the stretch to ensure a Chicago victory.
This is the game where Scottie Pippen famously tells Karl Malone, "the mailman doesn't deliver on a sunday," before Malone shoots and misses 2 free-throws at the end of the game that would have given Utah the lead.

If you listen carefully, on the last play there is tremendous buzz and excitement in the crowd. Its really loud. Then, when Jordan shoots the last shot, when the ball is in the air, the crowd collectively goes silent, and then erupts when it goes in. Sends chills down my spine every time. No doubt the best ever.
Wow how crazy it felt like i watched this yesterday. I'm a die hard Knick fan i hated the bulls but always respected MJ and this is why we never won a championship. During his time he was the greatest ever. No one executed shots like MJ and work the court like he did. Kobe and Labron just bow down to the king.

"The mailman don't deliver on Sundays."
hearing the crowd go crazy from 1 of Michael's game-winning buzzer beater is priceless!!!
Every year that Jordan played in the 90's he should of got the MVP. Who else was better then him in that decade let lone EVER?
I watched this game live back in 1997 when I was 10, and I still remember almost blacking out after MJ's game winning shot because I was screaming so hard, hahaha...such a great moment to be a Chicagoan (Of any age)!
No matter how much I watch this, I can never get tired of watching MJ's fadeaway
classic malone missed ft's haha
See how fast MJ went for the ball after Malone's 2nd free throw missed, that shows MJ is way ahead of everyone's thinking.
Who doesn't miss mid-'90s NBA on NBC? The legends, the intro music, the Marv Albert...it was a great time.
MJ is by far and away the greatest of all time. I still get Goosebumps watching these old games. The NBA hasn't been the same without him and no player will ever come close to his level of greatness.
Jordan and Malone showed who the real mvp was in the final minute! Both had their moment and only 1 rose to it!
yeah maybe not the beginning, but most certainly the end. he's a once in an eternity combo of talent and personality.
great video great quality thanx!!!
came back for this video cause of D-Rose's buzzer beater against the cavs and lebron!

I did too....lol!
man i still remember watching this game...greatest of all time.
Jordan literally had it all: he was very fundamentally sound and he had the greatest set of athletic skills I have ever seen. Not only could he shoot the jumpshot, defend your best player, drive to the hoop with ease (against better defenses that handchecked and played zone but called it perfect defensive rotation), but he was also able to palm the ball like it was a fruit, he had tremendous body control, ridiculous quickness, phenomenal vertical leap and superb basketball IQ. He was the GOAT.
the eruption of the stadium is amazing ... i must've watched it again and again 15x just now
you just literally brought a tear to my eye
I can still remember this moment...after this game I played basketball outside hahaha... I love watching this video... wow...11 years ago...time sure flies so fast...
I remember watching this as a kid. Dang this brings me back memories.
the Jordan and Pippen combo the greatest ever, those 2 were dynamite!!!
MJ YOU WILL BE ALWAYS MY NUMBER 1
THE.GREATEST.OF.ALL.TIME. PERIOD!!!!!!! His Mystique, His Class, His Clutch Gene, His Personality, His Stats, His Individual Awards, His 6/6 NBA Championships, His 6/6 NBA Finals MVP's, and The List Can Go On Forever!!!! He Was The Athlete Of The Entire Century!!!!! And When This Century Is Over, They Will Take The Athlete Who Accomplished the Most and Put Him Up Against Jordan and There Will Be NO Comparison!!!!!
I fell asleep watching this game on a Saturday night and woke up to see the highlights. Only mj
His shot is so beautiful...most fundamentally sound player in the game
Jordan Marv Albert NBA on NBC..... no better combination for a fan of basketball.

I liked Bill Walton also
06 was the best finals series since 98.
man jordans fadeaway is just awesome
what a great time for the nba!!
Jordan's Turn-around Fadeaway JumpShot is Just Sick-Nasty!!!!!!
Classic quote from the postgame press conferences....Pippen:"Mailmen dont deliver on Sunday" I love it
Lol at Steve Kerr standing there with arms raised at 9:31. Haha!
Jordan'assistance at 2min39 is just beautiful!... (Thanks, mlynch07.)
when I look at his fade away jump shot, it is clear that MJ > Kobe
god I remember being in a sports bar in the chicago suburbs watching that game! awesome!
wow good upload i am surprised thank you!
Jordan, Rodman and Pippen were three extremely driven individuals/players. You could see it in their eyes when they played, and they are also very smart. You don't see these kinds of players anymore. Kobe comes close, and there are some others, but not many. I think it's mostly today's culture, and the money that comes with it. Like Rodman said in his interviews back in the day, the players nowadays, he doesn't respect, because they don't respect the game of b-ball. So true.
"Discipline defense, don't force the fade away jumper." Isn't the fade one of MJ's signature moves though? lol
@162sbombs By the way it was Scottie who told Malone, "Mailman don't deliver on Sunday" before he botched the throws. Pip with the unofficial assist on the buzzer beater. My favourite Jordan buzzer beater. So underrated. Also...anyone else realize that MJ bookended the two Bulls/Jazz series' with buzzer beaters? Game 1 '97 and Game 6 '98. The GOAT.
@DoomDarenxbourg and unlike Kobe, Jordan actually hit game winners in the finals. the greatest time to be clutch
Theres only 1 jordan. No one could've stopped him. NO ONE. Thats why he's the greatest.
How many big shots did this guy hit through out his career, just ridiculous!
Almost as amazing as when I saw it live. The ball goes in exactly when the clock hits 0 btw. What a man.
He sure did! Sometimes I think the NBA gave the MVP to someone else during the Jordan era just to change it up.
Pippen said to Malone at the free throw line "the mailman don't deliver on Sunday".. Can't believe that rattle Malone's confidence
That turn around jump shot is like the right hand of God.
You absolutely right.
isn't it so cool how we witnessed the best NBA player in history? we can tell our grandkids one day how this guy Michael Jordan was the sickest player ever
At His Mercy
That last shot was perfect, like he knew what he was going to do beforehand. Backed up, hesitated and got by him and let it go at the perfect time so it would go through with no time left.
MJ showed once again why he is the greatest and why in game winning situations he takes the shot!!!!
man they ran the triagle offense so smooth WOW!
GOAT
@162sbombs It was Pippen who said "mailman doesn't deliver on Sunday"
He is playin with the playoff 12s
i miss hearing that. "Jordan. Yes."
Jazz just kept chocking. Stockton misses, malone recovers, Malone MISSES both free throws. Then game six stockton misses, Michael makes it, Stockton misses again. Damn, Jazz just choked.
@quadence 2000 NBA Finals game 4: Kobe's reverse layup in OT. That shot won the game.
michael jordan is the greatest athlete to play any sport ever.
thats why he's the goat
guys whats the song that plays over the PA right after he hits the shot?
That was the last NBA moment of total cinematic gravitas in the '90s. The year after Costas took over on the mic after Marv Albert got punked and basically ruined the whole show.
@162sbombs actually that was pippen who said "the mailman don't deliver on Sunday."
nothing more beautiful than 9:25 remember that shot like it was yesterday
Because there are a number of theories of guarding MJ. Some teams tried to double team Jordan and wear him out. Sloan is an old school coach who decided it was better to let MJ go one on one and focus on shutting down his teammates. It doesn't matter how many defenders you toss at MJ, he will score. So you might as well try to control the rest. And notice that as the game goes along, Sloan does start running more players to double and triple team.
Scotty Pippin should be remembered more than he is. He had to be like jordans robin.
the fist pump is a show of class... something players of today do not have.
haha love the special appearances by rodman
Pippen to Malone: "The mailman doesn't deliver on Sundays"
Classic Jordan!!!
My favorite part is 6:49 when that song, "That's what I like about you" comes on in the Bulls arena. LOL that was definitely the 90's
Guys whats the name of the song at 8: 23 ? the people says "hey" one
Winter and Jackson are like"come on MJ,hurry up, gotta go home for a dinner"
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTT
Had to get the Rodman air throw in there lol
Phil is so cool
I remember this game. I was stationed in the 82nd. We just got out the field!🤣😂🫡
Damn it Malone.
Yo watchin dat shot over gives me chills...Jordans Stone Fuckin Cold!!!!
Poor Bryon Russell. This shot in game 1 of the 97 NBA Finals and of course “the shot” in game 6 of the 98 NBA Finals. Unfortunately for him, he’ll continue to live in infamy because of those 2 shots. Long live the true king Michael Jefferey Jordan.
amazing. 'nuff said.
lol, gotta love the multiple rodman airballs.
@DoomDarenxbourg i would like to know what you felt like when the lakers got swept last year....and they aint doing anything this year either
Magic lol, you're kidding me right. He only played 3 years in the 90's and he that was his comeback, retirement, comeback retire.
MJ doing his thing! great upload!
Exactly...perfectly stated.
I noticed the benches were reverse back then. Now, the home bench is on the right side of your screen. When did they flip flop the benches?
Hello What's the name of song at 6:50 ? Thank you very much
@gunnarrscott Yes, U r right. Pippen told Malone that mailman doesn't deliver on Sunday.
arthur, it is pretty obvious for one to see how similar Kobe and Jordan are in terms of their playing style. I commend Kobe tremendously for being able to play as Jordan did because it is very, very hard. I don't like saying Kobe is copying Jordan, rather emulating the greatest player to ever play this game. Kobe also has many original moves, but you have to admit the fadeaway jumpshots are very similar between the two, as are the regular jumpshot forms. Jordan is not overrated, just the best
I love how they show the whole Bulls coaching staff sort of stands up and nonchalantly walks off the court as if they knew what was going to happen, lol. Bill Walton said it perfectly there at the end. And what was the deal with Dennis and the air balls? He just chucks the ball up there, not really caring, haha. Classic game by the classic Bulls team. Too bad today's Bulls suck so much. They will look for free agents in the summer, maybe MJ, Scottie and Dennis, again....?
The Mailman doesn't deliver on Sunday
At 8:23-8:24 jordan chops russels arm away, before jumpshot cagy veteran move I love it!
Jordans the best
7:32 DAMN what a pop.
Phil Jackson " i like that guy on my team" LOL
I would of loved to be there.
