I think Mike Durbin and Marshall Holman did a really nice job doing these broadcasts. Mike knew the answers to every little question that he asked Marshall but he was asking those things for the benefit of the audience and that is a very smart thing to do, very nicely done.

Durbin is the only bowler that's ever been the lead play by play guy. Randy has Dave Ryan/Rob Stone, Bo had Schenkel, Earl had Jay Randolph and Durbin. So that speaks for itself. Holman was decent at commentary, (I'd say better than Randy Pederson) but Earl and Bo were the two best. Earl was the most informative on the game and Bo was the best at setting the situation and helping you get to know each player. So I love the 3 years when ESPN had Durbin and Anthony on the mic. Sometimes they'd bicker a little bit, but the knowledge they both supplied was astounding.

So much fun to watch these again without remembering the results.

He wasn’t competitive the last 15yrs of his career

the first, second, and title matches were exciting and close

I was really rooting for Pete, but his shot making was not fully there yet. Combine that with his ball reaction leaving little room for error, it was tough for him. Walter Ray did a really good job of doing what he had to, despite all the corner pins he left.

I don't know what I enjoyed more, watching a very good couple of matches at the end or watching idiot Ernie lose. Why didn't those people just behave like humans instead of going out of their way to make everyone hate them?

@Canuck Gamer. I agree. I think he's a very selfish and rude person. I was so glad that he lost. He's the only pba bowler that I kept wanting to lose. That's saying a lot because I have watched the PBA since the 1970s.

Ernie's personality is definitely unique. I think the two shows he made in the 90s he treated like pot games. So yes, his complaints are very annoying (& a bad look to the casual viewer) but idk if he was just mentioning things to make Duke lose focus. I bet he thinks more about leaving the 2-10 to lose his match than he does about beating Pederson. For me, the most annoying bowler of the era was Dale "Eagle" Glenn. You could tell he just craved attention.. standing on the ball return doing the "eagle wings" when nobody really gave a shit lol. Very cringe. As much as Ernie's breathe-right strip lol
