I have a mint 100 and 200 I’ve never hooked up the 200 and played the nt100 for maybe 4 hours and it is the best sq car amp I’ve ever heard, I have 30+ car amps and have played with many many amps and again these nt amps sound amazing, you can change nothing to your set up and just put the nt amp on there and you’ll hear the huge difference.

in 96 we bought amps that were rated 200w really puts out 1k, nowadays we buy amps thats rated 1k but puts out 200w:P beast

While I will totally agree old school amps are awesome, and they will always be my favorite amps, technology has changed a lot. You can buy an amp today for $200 that will do 2500 watts if you have a charging system to support it. The manufacturer may have some ridiculous rating on it that says it does 4000 or 5000 or whatever. But the fact that you can even get 2500 W for $200? In 1996-97 800 W cost you $1000. $200 got you a Jensen that did 160 watts. Great video big D. Somehow I’ve never seen this one before. Love the color on that amp!

Wicked! I'm not too surprised that put out that much. Look at how big and beefy the power supply and output FET's are. Overbuilt for pure SQ!! Nice video BigD!

Also loved the 2NT subwoofers

Spot on the NT Drivers are Carbon Fiber more for SQ ...THE 2NT more for SPL both are better sounding than the Chinese rubber Orion is making today ...

Now I'm sitting here looking at my newly acquired NT200 in a whole different way, thanks big D🤣🤣👍

Was one of my favorite lines that Orion put out. Plus very pretty. Denny Gorseth was the Orion representatives in my area if you were ready to carry Orion in your store.

Nice test, nice test equipment. I have had the sister red flamed Orion XTR 200 in my truck system since '05. Couples perfectly with my never-released Orion 6.5" Millenniums. Clear Lexan bottom, for obvious reasons.

Orion's old school amps and equalizers were BEYOND awesome!! Even their "entry level" Cobalt amps from back in the day were doing crazy numbers!!! I hope new school Orion can get back to the quality of 90's Orion!

Orion gear is levels above the rest ....Crossovers EQ's for example

back when orion's were built like tanks. i ran XTR NT and HCCA with four 10s powered by the XTR amps and four 12s powered by HCCA 250 and two 15s powered by HCCA 2250. my NT ran my tweets and mids and mid bass 6 to 8 inch. damn that truck ROCKED. wish i kept it.

Love this color on the amp..amazing looks.

If I remember correctly these amps were being sold as SQ and had damping factor ratings at >1000 which was the big selling point. I drooled over these amps in the car audio shop in my late teens scheming up ways to get $1000 to spend on it. Best I could do was $350 for an HCCA 225.

Yeah, they were crazy expensive...but probably the best Orion amps ever made IMO

I have 2 of these and one nt100 in my car right now. Powering an all Image Dynamics system. CD2 comp big body horns, IDQ8 midbass and IDW 18 subwoofers.)))

Done i have this amp running at 4 ohms mono fir a carver subwoofer and it produces the best clean bass you can hear. I noticed whine noises but maybe its the bitOne cause my car is hybrid

hey Big D how you doing buddy I have a pioneer car stereo and I purchased 2 700 watt of peace speakers and that's all I want to run for now and they play but when I turn the volume up its like the speakers sound like they're blown like I don't know what's going on what could I do man could I get an amplifier car booster equalizer to help me out any help would be appreciated bro

Big D ever heard of an Orion Xtreme 200?

question. i always see you testing dynamic and stating that dynamic is similar to musical. But reading the dyno manual it says that the dynamic rating is measured with 20ms or 100ms tone bursts. how close are these millisecond tone bursts to actual tones produced by music since ive never heard or heard of 20ms tones during music.

The 40Hz dynamic track sounds like a kick drum. The 1kHz tone is not appealing, but it's a standard set by the IHF for Dynamic Power

I was looking at buying a red xtr 200 it seems to have the same specs as the NT 200 what's the difference?

+65RANFLA Yes, but the PC2350 I tested had issues bridged, so I didn't get an accurate test.

Orion was once a HUGE producer of great quality car audio equipment. These amps are known as cheater amps, because they push way more then rated and was used in the low wattage SPL contest. These amps are not rated to run at low ohm loads but are made to handle them and it does it very well. I've seen these run as low as .5ohms and others as low as .25, but you MUST have a lot of power for them. These cheater amps, like this one, are power hungry in a major way, and you will mess up the amp if you don't suply it with a sufficient amount of power. You will not be capable of pushing the watts your looking for, without the proper power for the amp. I can'treally remember, but I think the Orion HCCA (High Current Competition Amplifier) line requires even more juice the the Orion NT line of amps.

I got the old school 800 Orion amp 2 channel.

Where are all the good power stereo amps like this at. Everytime I see a multi channel amp its doing around 50w rms x2 @ 4 ohm

how are the new hcca amps?

Hi there. I remember these amps from back in the day. I ended up getting into phoenix gold. Had the m100 and m44. Loved them but I think they were almost as pricey as the orion. I recently picked up an orion xtr2400pro. It's from 2002 and from what I understand it's the last model made in the usa. I doubt it has the same rep as the really old school orions but I was wondering if anyone has tested one of these or has any experience or opinions on it? Thanks!

this 2ohm mono load is that stable for real world everyday use?

@@wal cool so i can bridge my xtr200 to a nt15dvc with no issues as i had done it with the 100 to 2 xtr12 dvcs but i was told the 200 was not 2ohm stable in mono i thank you so much as i will send you pics of the install

That amp will run at .25 ohms. Ask me how I know.
