Yup. Ridiculous Purdue got a 1 seed over Wake Forest. Wake should have been the 1 seed in the West and Purdue should have been the 2 in the Midwest.

Chris Kreager the only time a 16 will beat a one is a badly seeded one Purdue was badly seeded that year Purdue should be a 3 and wake a one but western Carolina was a 16 if western Carolina was a 14 they would have gotten destroyed

I would have just flipped the Purdue/Kansas seeds. Wake was the best team in a down ACC that year and that league wasn't getting a 1. Or if they wanted to think outside the box Cincy was probably the best team available, but I'm not sure C-USA in its first year had much cache as a conference.

@@chrisuncleahmad Good point. I remember thinking that Cincy should have as well. The Big 10 (11) was terrible in 1996. Penn State somehow had a good team that year despite being a terrible offensive team.

Julian Newman needs to play like Earl Boykin if dude has any hopes of making it any further in basketball Boykin and Newman are about the same height the difference is this Boykin was a true point and a true leader who made it to the NBA Newman is a hot headed daddy’s boy who will never make it to the league if he tries

At 1:23:52, this was a Georgia team that finally lived up to the promise after underachieving for the previous three years. If Wallace doesn't make that shot for Syracuse, that team may have went all the way to the National Title Game.
