My grandfather gave me one of those pull-string Woody's for Christmas back in 1995. I loved pulling his string and hearing his phrases. I thought he was cool! I was disapointed he didn't say "Reach for the sky." though. There was a Woody I could find in Kmart in 1996 that did say "Reach for the sky." but it wasn't a pull-string one. You had to press his chest near the top button on his shirt to make him talk.

I got one for Christmas that year, too. I would later get the other model with the bigger pull-string and no spurs, but the first one I loved the best. I had him until roughly 2014-2015 when I donated him to charity.

1995 Woody will always remain OG it's very rare to find this Woody right now...I suggest whoever has this Woody keep it safe and do not lose it

I prefer this version of the OG Woody rather than the later 1996 version. Even though he was meant to be a rag-doll like in the film, the Posable version really gives good stop motion animating.

The backstory on the box for that figure confirm woody at least at the time the first film was released did in fact once had a handgun that was just lost.

that is interesting. Seems like wave 1 Woody had some extras they changed later on for some reason. Toy companies always do this..well for Thinkway Toys especially like what they did with wave 1 collection Woody in 2009 with real denim jeans then later changed them to printed on.

This possible 1995 Woody doll is cool, he could be worth a lot of money now due to how old he is

My Woody doll I had when I was a kid looked like the one in your video. The only differences are that he was fatter and his pullstring ring was bigger on the back of his black and white cow vest. My Woody doll also didn't have the spurs on the back of his cowboy boots like yours does. I think that was the 1996 Woody if I remember correctly.

Yeah I hear those are the wave 2 ones I guess they got rid of the wires for “safety” concerns and the spurs I have no idea why they stopped putting it on him.

Been watching your videos a good 2 weeks and I do enjoy them. I’ve decided to start recollecting toys from my childhood largely due to your content! I managed to grab a 95 buzz for $12 and a 96 woody for $45, doll and hat purchased separately. I do wish mine had the spurs but I felt it was a good compromise over paying a hundred plus to have spurs! Could you demonstrate how to replace the 95-96 Woodys buttons with the ones on your shop? Or perhaps what to use to color over where the paint came off the original buttons? Main thing is your videos are fun to watch and thank you for putting out fun content!

That’s cool! Yeah as an adult that’s what I do here I connect adults to their childhood nostalgia and help people build their toy story collections and more here especially with modifying toys to make them look more like the movie. I do that on my “movie accurate” playlist here on this channel.

I really like that they have shown a cowboy printed bedsheet on the box.... Really didn't knew that woody misplaced his gun😅good for small children 😂

Hi, l have a Woody like this, he has the posable arms and legs, but hasn't got spurs, and his jeans are darker, would you have any idea which wave he could be? I read they made him without spurs and the wire inside later on, but mine still has the wire inside and the sewn on buttons but no spurs, weird?

Can anyone help me figure out what woody doll I have? He is a Thinkway 1996 15” but he doesn’t have a pull string… he instead has a print in the middle of his vest of a pull string in the same color and font as the cow print on his vest. At first I thought someone stupidly screwed a U shaped wall hanger on his back, but it is the same goldfish color as his badge, belt buckle, and spurs.. he has spurs, but his limbs are floppy and he has the bigger badge as pointed out in this video…. I’m trying to determine if he is rare or not! Thank you for any help.

this just popped up in my head that your movie accurate bo peep from toy story 4 could be more accurate if it was doing the right pose in toy mode because bo peep is glass and when bo peep is toy mode she is mainly the signature collection pose

Yeah I’m more of a fan of “toy mode”

I actually still have mine from 1995! TIL that he was poseable and had wires in him lol. He’s in pretty okay condition considering he’s moved across countries and was throw around over the years. The pull string doesn’t pull, he’s missing his buttons, Star, and hat. And it’s a bit faded and dirty but I can’t help but keep him around. He’s the only thing from my childhood I still have. I was thinking of buying a 1995 doll and kinda restore him as much as I can on my own. Though it’s kind of a huge investment.

The spurs on the original Woody were probably recalled for safety. I have a Thinkway Woody from Toy Story 2, and his spurs are noticeably thicker.

Yeah that’s interesting. Later they did bring the spurs back but yes for a while they took them off. That’s probably why they removed the wires from the first wave as well.

I got a question so I just got my 1995 woody and he was never opened but his right arm has a short bendy wire but left is normal but I want to if this normal cuz the right hand has no bendy wire in it but the left dose

I found a wave 1 posable woody doll at a thrift store for only $4. The voice box only works 50% of the time, the speaker is worn down, and it's missing his hat. But I still picked him up, and it was worth it. ^^

I remember on my 6th birthday my grandpa got me a woody doll it’s in pretty bad condition but I still keep it my grandpa is dead and I keep it because woody reminds me of him my grandpa also really like cowboys and old western movies

The pull string is really delicate compared to modern ones because they are more durable for toddlers ect. also, keep an eye on him. He might want to take a walk after being stuck in a box for 25 years 😂

I couldn't believe I basically,Saw a tru pull,string,doll. Till for know,I always wanted,to watched a video to noticed It has a lot of crazy toys back in the 90s . Thanks,again. That's the way it works correctly. l love him,Lucky you found him in Ebay the best website to find toys not movies. 1.The pull string based in the movie. 2.Arms,very movement to used,With a perfectly hat.It. has a lot of details 3.A plastic badge,Vest painting, with cow shapes. 4.Not real diamond,but it works correctly. Fun fact:The voice by Woody doll is by Jim Hanks,Tom hanks,has a very,nice brother to made a very nice woody voice in a doll. I wouldn't get rid of my toys. Your videos,help me with everything. I used to have both of the orginal ones as A kid and I feel bad for getting rid of then now knowing how much they cost to replace but my woody was unfixable his shoes wouldn't attach to his feet anymore, he was dirty, and his arm no matter how much you tried to sew it back on it come unattached. As for buzz nothing was wrong with him besides his helmet was permanently off. Totally regret it now after seeing toy story 4

My 95 woodys been beaten and bruised, with his voice box removed (it still work) and the funniest part is that his arm ripped, which had since been sewed back on.

I got a bargain on mine, mine was 25 pounds but I decided to keep mine mint, there were no creases on the box whatsoever so I thought I should keep it in the box I also have one out the box he is in really good condition and he was only £10

In America prices are higher, I notice that in Europe I can get better prices but that is not the case on the American side of eBay. I would shop more on the European side but shipping costs are high. You are very lucky to have the prices you do in your country. Congratulations!

So I found you on accident lol. But I love the info. I’m a fairly large collector and I have the same issue with running out of room. For a little more info on this. The reason the removed the wire was for safety. But things you didn’t see. The buttons are not sewn into the shirt they are almost lose if you look. That was changed due to a choking hazard. Which is also why the Spurs were removed. They were easily pulled out of their sockets causing again a choking hazard. So if you look at another 95’ era woody there will be a square socket but no spur. Due to the choking hazard. I know a lot of useless info but hey I know it lol.

Thank you for that information I’m always looking to learn why the toys are the way they are to further my toy journey and education. It’s interesting to me why and how companies make these changes along the way to the toys we grew up playing and collecting.

The bendy arms was the reason why my mom waited until the following to get me one, it has spur inserts but never came with them and has the bigger pull ring, I was...3, I think when I got him.

@@todayigrewup No, I sadly don't have that one, due to medal being in the arms was the reason we waited for the rag doll one. Edit: A three old wasn't old enough. lol

Can anyone explain why no Woody doll seems to have a voice of one of the Hanks brothers?

I saw a woody toy haul selling for 40$ in Facebook marketplace and one of those woody is a mint in box 1995 possable woody and some Disney store woodys and a potato head should i get it? Kind suspicious tho.

yeah I was never a fan of that one, no hate for people who love it, I just feel it wasn't for me.
