I love watching these old games, but it drives me crazy that the score, down and yards to go are not in the top center. How did we live back then??

Marino and the O lulled the pats asleep and BOOM Marino to fryar 67 yds, beautiful TD strike, caught em asleep!!Marino to Fryar was much better than given credit for!!only Clayton and duper was not dangerous but IMO FRYAR had better hands than both of em!!!

Don't tell me Marino didn't have a running game. Their offensive line was taylor made for pass blocking but they ripped off 183 plus yards in this game alone. The RB's for the MIAMI DOLPHINS always played their part in every game they played. Marc Logan, Mark Higgs, Bernie Parmalee, Terry Kirby, Irving Spikes, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. They all ran their asses off with what they were given. Every game they'd regularly get a 4, 5, 6 yard carry or they break one for a long gain. They did what they could.

Please...Marino's running game was abysmal, not once did he ever have a top 10 run game in 17 seasons, on top of that, he had 1 1,000 yard rusher his entire career and that was when Jimmy Johnson came in and forced the run for the first 2 and a half quarters that usually led to an 0-17, 3-20 deficit, then asked Marino in quarter 4 to throw the team out of and Dan did it more times than not. Out of all the great QBs, Marino had the least help around him than all of them. A couple good games here and there by the running backs doesnt mean he had that consistently. Dont even get me started on his defenses

I'll tell you then Brandon! Marino's Running backs mostly sucked throughout his career. You're using one game in 17 yrs of Marino's career to make an inaccurate statement.

Sorry Brandon , go check the guys you named career averages and then think about it. Any of them would be lucky to have a 4.0 yard career average. Sure , they had good games here or there , but when the Dolphins HAD to run , they could not , plain and simple.

Brandon I agree the Dolphins had some running backs that had a lot of desire and determination to be successful. But the overall collective talent was only so-so. I blame the offensive line talent/execution and the coaching philosophy/play calling more than the running back play. In the 80s , besides Dwight,Stephenson, who was done after ‘87 due to career ending knee injury, the offensive line was terrible. You had Ronnie Lee who was a converted tight end, and some other scrubs. Then in the 90s you had talent on paper, like Webb and Sims, but they just didn’t perform well consistently. Whenever it was 3rd and 1 or 4th and 1, the defense knew we wanted to run for it to establish a reputation of being able to get the tough yard. But more often than not the ground game was pathetic. In the end, a Combination of subpar talent in the backfield and the line, and bad play calling/offensive philosophy all contributed to Marino never having a run game.
