1995 Mitsubishi Pajero Mini VRII Road Test Review [Collector Car Guru Seat of The Pants Videos]

[ SUBSCRIBE, LIKE and COMMENT ] On a 38 degree morning, The Collector Car Guru drives Mitsubishi's tiny Kei class Pajero Mini VRII 4X4 SUV with the coveted top-spec turbo and intercooled 660-cc DOHC 5-valve-per-cylinder 4 cylinder engine. Do the Pajero Mini's bone-stock on-road performance and significant off-road capabilities make it the ultimate Suzuki Samurai killer? (Spoiler alert: yes!)

Great vid! I’ve watched many of your vids and recently bought your book and I look forward to working with you soon to add to my collection. I currently have a 1995 Suzuki Jimny. Have you driven one? In your opinion how do they compare to the Pajero Minis?

Thank you so much for watching the videos and reading the book. Much like the Mustang vs Camaro battle through the decades, the Jimny and Pajero Mini are VERY similar. The biggest differences in driving dynamics come from front suspensions, where the Pajero Mini's is independent versus the Jimny's solid front. The Pajero Mini feels more direct, stable and car-like in on-road cornering. As you know from owning one, the Jimny's is not necessarily truck-like, and is easier to modify/lift for offroad use. It is not a question of better -- rather just different priorities. With both brands, the best are well maintained, low mileage turbo/intercooled versions.

What automatic transmission come in these and are they reliable ?

Mitsubishi uses the same automatic in the Pajero Minis as it does in all of its JDM Kei-class 660-cc vehicles. It is prone to failure and is not recommended.

These are pretty cool little 4X4s. Maybe next time try not getting one that is so beat up?

😂(Just remember, Toshi, people cannot immediately tell you are being sarcastic.) We passed on buying literally hundreds of Pajero Minis at auction before finding this super clean one to import.

The engines are available in Japan and relatively inexpensive. Shipping, however, is expensive. Must be sent in a container.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with this presentation and quite the opposite - he’s authentic and straight to the point and most appreciative for it. Thanks, brah!
