Its very common for the needle jets to get buggered up on these carbs. That's what makes it leak fuel. Always spray out with carb cleaner when apart, then blow with compressed air. Just dont get cleaner on the diaphragms or any other rubber components. I use silicone spray on the o rings and seals. Very easy fix if you follow the procedure.

@@ulisesholguin670 its usually the float needle not seating properly due to debris or the rubber tip is deformed and worn out. Backfiring is usually a whole nother issue, usually in the valve train.

Where is the line that comes off the bottom of the carby meant to go cause it looks like It just needs to go out to the floor but its way too long for that, its the original one that came with it, also is fuel meant to come out of it or do I need new rubbers? I've never done anything with carbs so I have no idea

Can you tell me where you got your turn signals? I have the exact same bike

It is! I haven't gotten around to the follow up video, but it runs perfectly and I had it going all summer long.

So what was the issue? My ‘02 KLR 250 won’t fire up and it’s driving me nuts.

Not 100% sure the problem. Cleaned the carb and put it back together. I also changed the spark plug at the same time and changed the air filter, cleaned the airbox. After that it fired up no problem.

@@roblarkin3711 Glad to hear you got it running. I went the route of- do a bunch of work, put it all back together, and then try to figure out what I fucked up. Still working on that last part.

I make sure to shut off my petcock down the street from my house and let the bike run in my driveway until it dies to ensure all the fuel in my carb burns up and doesn’t sit. Is there a better way? Probably. Non-ethanol gas maybe?
