Exactly my issue !!!! So tupis of a design
Oh thank you. I was being lazy and considering having a radio shop install in my Yukon, but after seeing how easily accessible the radio is, I'm doing it.
I have a 2006 Silverado with steering wheel controls. And is having the hardest time finding the harness and double din kit. Bro after watching this video... im definitely subscribing to you. Your info is on point and you told us all the steps we needed, well details and links. I will send you more subscribers. GREAT WORK 👍🏻 👌🏾
As others have said - thanks for the ignition activated line explanation - it's critical and made my install a success. I have no idea why the video has any downvotes - the video was perfectly instructive. THANK YOU.
This is exactly what I need to do with my 2003 pickup
Currently wiring a new single DIN deck into a 2007 classic silverado 2500hd. The wiring harness is much more hard to find and was much more complex/expensive for this model due to it having steering wheel controls just FYI for anyone else with the same truck. Very helpful video though!
I guess work same in Chevrolet silverado 2004 we been try my friend and i figured out about the color cables now this video show more clear few things..thanks for the video
I have a 2005 suburban with bose system. I have a jvc double din installed with the aftermarket wiring harness. If I choose to run wires directly from doors to radio can i do this same procedure and skip the bose amp?
I just wired up my amplifier for a subwoofer bit I'm not getting any power to it. Any suggestions?
just wanna say thanks for the help and good job on the video. any other channels should take notes.
Hey there I followed all your directions and for some reason I'm still not getting power to my head unit... There's a couple of differences in my wiring harness from yours. I don't have a fuse connected to my 12 volt constant, and I have a red switched/ignition wire. Anyways with all the stereo shops closed I can't go anywhere for help. Just wondering if you had any thoughts. Thanks so much for the video It was really helpful up until this point.
Few questions.. i just installed a double din .. 2007 sierra 1500 classic stock with 4 speakers no bose /onstar or wheel controls... didnt have a harnes spliced it all in.. i didnt use ign1 i actually spliced directly into the ignition power for the hvac unit right below (brown wire).. radio works sounds great however abs light came on half my cluster doesnt work 4x4 doesnt work and my windows .. im sire much more i havnt tried yet... would my slice n splice do this? I managed to blow a fuse for radio not realizing my ingition was on when i was installing.. im hoping this is somthing simple i cam fix myself
Does the fuse that you tap into need to be one of the red ones or as long as it Is switched power?
Where can I get the wiring harness for 2004 Chevy Tahoe? I live in the bay area California. Thanks for your help
My 1999 silverado has the clips on the side to pull out the factory radio i need a dash kit with the pocket to fit what do i use?
So what if my 2002 GMC Yukon XL already has a after market stereo. I bought it used and the previous owner installed the stereo but I want to switch it out for a Bluetooth one. Will I have to do all those wires again. My truck has a JVC stereo but I’m switching it for a newer JVC stereo with Bluetooth.
I have a 97 Tahoe. We replaced the radio thinking the channels went bad because no sound was coming out all 6 of my speakers but my subs were still working. We got the new radio all plugged in and turned it on before putting the dash back on. Sounds was coming out of my speakers. Started putting the dash back on and plugged the dimmer/headlight switch in and my speakers cut out. Unplug it and my speakers work. Any suggestions on why that is happening?
Thanks for the help for the remote wire
Hi how did you get the thing around the fuse my doesn’t seem to want to go on
Finally got a new stereo in my 02. For some reason the scosche dash kits make the radio stick out like an inch. Looks funny compared to the metra kits. Not sure why they changed it I've used metra kits before
Nicely done!
Thank you so frikin much. Maaannn....i been trying for 6 years to figure out what the world I'm doing wrong to this thing. Thanks to your wire diagram ...now I know. But I was wondering ...does any gray matter for dimmer? And what if my radio does not have those colors...coming from behind the dash. ?
So in order to turn on the stereo the red cable needs to be ran to the fuse ?
So what wire did you hook the wire going to the fuse box to. Yellow to yellow, black to black , then ?
I just bought a 2003 GMC Sierra which came with an aftermarket radio, an amp, and 2 12" Subs it wont save the preset stations or if I'm playing a song from my flash drive and I turn off the truck then turn it back on it doesn't continue when I left off at. I'm the radio was no good so I swap it out for another aftermarket radio and I'm still having the same issue what could it be?
Do you have any idea what the existing round plug is?? Not the antenna though
Did you have a factory amp?..is that what the red wire was for? Because I assume that the wiring harness had a power source in it.
Thanks for posting! I was able to install a new stereo in the 2004 Tahoe without being intimidated

I installed a radio with the axdis-cl2 and once I was done my Sirius/satellite radio turns on along with my radio. Any idea how to just unplug the satellite radio? Or did I do something wrong?
I connected the accessory wire to the brown wire on my hvac controls. Worked fine for a few yrs but now I'm getting output error.

It may appear that it had it in the harness, but use a multimeter to see if it actually has a 12v+ switched power when the key is on. If not, no go, need to run a line to the fuse box.
Why the extra red wire? I think you said the reason was to get switched +12Vdc. But my 2000 Chevy Silverado LS gets switched power through the harness.

@ProvoBeastAudio
6 жыл бұрын
If you are bypass the amp, Onstar, etc, You can use the wiring harness we used in the video. The factory bose amp is behind the glove box. You can run RCA cables from your radio to your amplifier, and then use the speaker output of the amp and either run new wires to each speaker specifically or run that wire to the factory bose amp output which has all your speaker wire there as well. There are other videos and forums that go through this more in detail.

The pocket comes with the dash kit not the radio. You have to purchase the dash kit, wiring harness, etc separately. See the description for the list of parts we used in this video.
I just wanted to know how to remove the radio but I notice you don't cover the XM antenna. How does that work?
@ProvoBeastAudio
5 жыл бұрын
We didn't retain the XM antenna as the owner of the truck didn't have a subscription. If you want to keep that, you need to ensure your new radio is XM ready, and you will need to use the SXV300 tuner module and a GM Adapter to make it work.
what if it already has the red wire on the wire harness but still won't come on when you turn on the truck I have to manually turn it on with the power button
@ProvoBeastAudio

Its because the harness, even though it has the red wire, is not connected into the ignition. You still need to run a wire to a switched ignition source unless you purchase the expensive adapter.

Do all Chevy's not have the power/accessory wire? Gonna have to check the back of my factory before finishing my harness
@steveloux4709
2 ай бұрын
Correct; as he mentioned, GM uses the CAN bus to create RAP (retained accessory power). There are adapters available that mate to the factory harness that leverage the CAN bus to wire to the aftermarket harness. And the bonus is these adapters usually provide for the chime that was eliminated by hacking into the system the way it was done here.

Hey there. I'd recommend something that produces either 75 or 100 watts RMS at each channel, and a nice 4 channel amp would compliment those speakers. Pioneer makes a 4 channel GM-D8604 that does just that, or they even make a 5 channel if you want to add a small subwoofer in a truck behind your seats.
