Awesome video! Thanks for the review, brother. :) It was my pleasure. I was super excited to have the car reviewed and my only regret is that I wasn't able to patch up more of what needs work. Glad you enjoyed the ride. Thanks again, Zack!

I have owned a 92 SVX for 10+ years, there are lots of little hidden gems in this car, first. In the driving conditions you were driving in you likely had your headlights on correct? well when you have lights on it dims the interior dash/clock radio etc. but there is a button on the end of the turn signal stalk you push to brighten those back up to normal so they are easier to see in daylight. There is a handle under the bottom of the column to set the steering wheel position and the lever on the left side allows you to unlock and move the steering wheel all the way up for easy entry/exit, when you pull the wheel down it goes right back to your preset position. That engine is capable of over 500HP at the wheels with just injectors and stand alone ecu running turbo. Then finally when you put the engine in front of a manual transmission you change the feel completely you have direct feel of all those ponies so when you hit the go pedal it really does go. let me link you to a long video of my car when I first put the 6 speed sti trans in. kzread.info/dash/bejne/YmaqmrWGmq-ah7A.html

SVX is definitely interesting...but the EG33 was never used in anything else. Was sold in Japan as the Alcyone, and some 94s and 95s were front wheel drive to chop $5,000 off the list price. Couldn't save it, though.

The car's transmission would overheat and Destroy itself. It had the same automatic transmission as the Mitsubishi 3000gt. The rack and pinion steering would go bad and there were a lot of other reliability issues with the car. The car is absolutely gorgeous, I wish Subaru would have continued with the amazing styling of this car. They haven't made a good-looking car since this one

good review dude, you and hoovie would be a fun duo for reviewing cars. i am considering a '95 svx and was hoping to find out if these cars had cruise control but i guess they don't, as i use cc for any lengthy stretch 35mph and higher

I love mine, dished pistons non interference engine, desgined by a maniac, glass to glass design, very good ride, I have an STI as well but if there were an autobahn I would drive my SVX(Subaru Vehicle eXperimental) because you can maintain higher speeds at higher RPM'S then you can in a subaru 4 banger

Well as for the transmission 96-98 Subaru outback transmission bolts right in you will also need the rear differential of the same outback then you will get a 4.44 diff just swap the planet gear in the diff. Love my SVX 92 green.😁 Great video for such an un-appreciated car.

Nice to see a good review of the SVX! Note on the windows, in the 90s the futuristic bubble glass was a popular with most automotive manufactures. The SVX's split windows allowed window to window contact in all four corners creating the smallest amount of blind spots possible and even some upward visibility. After owning one for almost a decade it has spoiled me and makes every other vehicle feel like a blind tank. But you live in fear of a cracked glass because it can total the car :(

The windows were actually designed that way to reduce buffeting when driving with the windows down. It’s one of the few cars that’s almost as comfortable as an old frameless 4 door to drive around with the windows down.

The Audi "V8" was a very unique car that was a luxury car that had AWD, it was insanely expensive something like upwards of 80k could be wrong mind you but they only made it for a few years in the early nineties. I used to know a lot about it but you know how it is I can't remember anymore. Just thought I'd mention it because it was one of few Luxury AWD cars at the time...

7:00 Coupe back seats are made for small, short people. I have an '02 Cougar. I'm neither small nor short, and I've had to ride backseat. You have to fold up three times if you want to fit. Either that or the backseat is made for people who want their sporty car but have kids

Yes the 3000Gt VR4 is awd but transverse engine sucks in my opinion. lol I have always loved that 3000GT VR4 but when I saw it was FWD layout I was disappointed add to that because of that awd layout it is no where near as good in bad weather driving I do appreciate that they made a turbo version as well but again with that transverse layout working on them is much worse

Who ever told you not too buy one didnt know what they were talking about. Amazing car especially too mod and work on. Easiest subaru motor too pull take 1.5hours from start too finish too pull the engine. Not a single bolt you fight for. All 6 motor too tranny bolts perfect access. Motor bolts facing straight down. Exhaust headers same thing. Every bolt has perfect access. I cannot emphasize how much easier this engin is too pull and work i over sooooooooooo many other vehicles. Including civics toyots Mitsubishi's nissans you name it. Nothing comes close.

4eat transmissions are made by Jatco heavy industries and after the 80's were notorious for being unreliable. That said i had one and it was strong enough to handle anything i threw at it.

If only the exchange rate didn't make Japanese sports cars prohibitively expensive in the 90s. The SVX had potential. If they offered more iterations, like turbo and sti versions it could have been awesome.
