Man you brought back some memories. I had 5 of these 12's and was waiting on the 6th one to pop up on Ebay. All were NIB too! I got bored after waiting over a yr to build my system that I sold the subs and bought a motorcycle in 2007. I think I sold them for $200/piece back them. Man I'm kicking myself now because they are holding their value. And for those that said RF made great stuff back then. They certainly did. I only had 1 spider to coil failure on a 5.25 speaker. Took her about and the coil was still nice and shiny. It was the RFR 5.25, same yr as these subs, red diamond dust cap. Sold the good one for $55! I sent both to the buyer. So yes, their products were well made. Nice video man! Keep up the good work.

I've seen modern subs use the same exact frame. Just shows how good the engineering at Rockford is and was to have modern brands using the same design all these years later.

Those RF Power 12's were in my top 3 old school faves! Others were the original Kicker Competitions and Orion XTR'S! Those were the great old days!

Back in 94 my buddy had two 12" fosgates in his bug. Shit slammed! I became an instant long time fan of Fosgate

Love the power 1000!It was a dream amp back in 92!

Your Rockford Subwoofer are absolut awesome! I have two 1992 100W RF S1 124 with karlsonator enclosure playing in a 50m² livingroom and they try to break my house. I like the oldschool stuff, the sound is so much better!

Lucky... Lol right now i got Ray from illuminati sounds building me a custom MTX 9500 15 D2 but after this build im workin on im goin to build a oldschool set up. Thinkin old RF power or punk HX2s but a newer class D to push them..

My uncle had one ported behind his seat in a 1990 single cab 4x4, 10 excelon speakers up front, running off Fosgate amps, was one of best times of my childhood!!

Some of the best subs I've ever owned. Had two power 10's in a 86 VW GTI hatchback. I had a 500 watt alpine amplifier and a phoenix gold crossover. Of course back then everyone had standalone crossovers as they weren't in every amp like today. I think I paid $400 each for my power 10's back in 96.

Yeah man when I was in high school a kid had 4 10” Rockford power dvc holly hell. First real sound quality system I heard and it had me hooked! He cold play any music and It just slammed.

I received one of these PWR 412 just for buying a pair of mint 50m from original owner last week, which makes 3 50m in my old school RF collection, thank you unknown craigslist seller.

I had 2 power punch 12’s back in the day. Hooked up to a punch 250m. 1989 Chevy Corsica ltz. They slammed hard!

Freaking awesome, still nothing like old school power and clarity. I am still pounding a 12" HiFonics Olympian series 2 in a sealed enclosure and powering it with my Audio Art 200.2xe. I have plenty of other systems before and after and this is my favorite sub set up.

Please tell me what size ports those are I want to use a 4 inch port for a single but would a 3 inch be better for p2

Damn I'm feeling super old since I still have my original punch 12s in sealed boxes from 92. Still look and feel new as the day I bought them.

Do you know what size the voice coil is on those? I used to have the audio file 12s but they were just a single voice coil. Are those the power version?

I had two in the back of my Vauxhall cavalier and it was nice!

the 12's I had back around 1992-96 (I cant remember) I remember them being called "Classic" not sure if they were before of after these. What I know is, they were not playin games. I was rockin a pair of 12's in a custom band-pass box, in the back seat of my toyota tacoma extracab, a pair of Boston Acoustic RC51's in the doors and a pair of Alpine amps (cant even remember the model). Loved that system, and would kill to have those boston's back.

These subs are pretty efficient and don't have a ton of X-max. I estimate they are getting about 350W each. Thanks for watching and commenting

+Reggie Reginato John used this box in a Rodeo, so I knew it would fit in the Sequoia. We use the 3rd row of seats, so unfortunately I'm not gonna be able to use this box. Needs to be lighter anyway, think I'm gonna go birch

First subs I ever had but with the black basket they were the best $200 a piece had on a punch 200 and OMG trunk rattleling apart

26 years old and still slams now thats well built car audio from back in the day just wish they take the time now days to make stuff good again

O. I GET IT!! had 4 of them hooked up to an old orion hcca i think the 225 at .5 ohms so long ago cant remember. What i do remember is needing ear plugs. 1996!

I just picked up a Rockford power 1000 from the 1990's and a punch 200 for get this $80!! to me That's a amazing good deal. And both amps works and look new. The punch 200 has the original box too.

I'm in Wilmington NC. I have 4 punch 150 HD "old school amps from the 90's. Two of them need to be repaired. Any recommendations. Back in the 90's, I was an installer for Audio Express and I sent blown amps to a place in Charlotte, but can't remember the name of the place (assuming it is even still in existence)??? Unless you want to fix them LOL

Been Running a Single 12" L7 2001 model in a ported box with a Punch 801s Amp. Not a fan of the ported box since I listen everything from Jazz to Rap. I couldn't find a Matching Kicker sub to make a sealed version but I just Acquired 3 X 10" RFR2210 4ohm. Gonna make a Sealed box and throw a RF T1500 amp to it. I can't wait to see how hard these RFR2210 will hit.

What is the db rating on those subs ? I was out of car audio by 1992 and had moved away from TX where I started. My fav amp was the Orion 225HCCA. That thing was a beast and could drive 1/2 ohm loads. It was also big and weighted probably 20 lbs. I was in TX back in the late 80's. The AutoTek amps and Lanzar or Crunch subs were the best. The Comp. versions were 95 or 96db subs. I set up a system of 4- 10" in a 300ZX that cracked the windshield using 2- Autotek 7100 amps for the subs (2 x 2 ohm parallel so 1ohm load ) and an Orion 280gt I think it was on 4 MB Quart 2 way separates with 6.5" midrange and 1" Titanium tweeter. It all went thru an Audiocontrol EQ-X I think it was.He had a Sony CD player like mine. That is why subs suck these days, $200 subs are only 87db efficiency. Back in my day you could get 120db out of a pair of 10" and a Autotek 7050BTS amp that was rated at 22w x 2 at 4 ohms. You would get around 250+ watts at 1 ohm on a pair of 2 ohm subs.I built a system a few years ago and needed 2 12" subs( Alpine 12" at 87db but cost $180 each ) and a pair of 7050BTS's to get 121db. ( all were sealed boxes )

JL definitely sound quality better but to me they are not worth the price...Rockford Fosgate sound great for a lot less cash...also Rockford Fosgate easier to repair their subs....

Love the amp never seen it before or anyone like it but man that is cool

I remember when you could run a punch 60 to two Rockford Fosgate series subs and have a pretty hard hitting system.

Really enjoyed this video and it had my pro audio speakers thumping. You will likely get more SPL and a lower tuning if the box is closer to the hatch with that upfire box. I keep thinking of those new neo magnet speaker terminals Steve Meade demonstrated recently when you talk about needed a quick way to remove the system. Maybe some custom BigDWiz/ SMD collab amp connection terminals? Thanks for posting this, love seeing the old school gear putting in work.

+jacob bennett yes, I've been doing this for a while, back when EXO and Soundman had under 10k subscribers (Price too). Now they are all over 100k subs. My videos for too long were hyper focused on too narrow of an audience. I'm branching out a bit, it's a necessity to get a larger audience. It's not all about the numbers, but I've paid my dues and it's time for BigD to get his 🤔

I remember back in the day I lusted for the green infinity kappas. I was just a high school kid not an expert. How did they stack up to these?

Green Kappas are great speakers. These RF Power subs have huge 4” voice coils and are designed for more output

Had 2 Series-1 18"s circa 1992 on a Punch 45HD and they were PHAT.

Question ; Can you use a AA battery to test an amplifier if it actually turns on or not? Would be good for someone to know when they buy amplifiers used on Craigslist and needs to at least test it out to see if it powers ON or not.

Get a small 12v battery from Amazon. They are around 20 bucks. something like this - amzn.to/2ksPl4X I would also bring wiring, a 3.5mm to RCA adapter cable and a small speaker. Just because it turns on doesn't mean it outputs sound

I like the old school equipment and it was very expensive back then for just a 1k amp. One of the loudest I've heard was 4 12" Orion XTR's in a ported blow through in a extended cab S-10 on a 1k Orion XTReme mono amp. I've seen people spend 3 to 4 times more on their system and not even come close to this particular set up. We pulled them out and there was no suspension left to them in the spiders from them being so old and them using a single spider.

+Nobody asked you! GFY! Very true, this amp is also 1k powering (4) 12" subs. It is pretty crazy, unreal the speakers still work so well after all of these years. Speaking of Orion, see my older video of a 1990 Mazda B2200 with (4) Orion XTR15 subs powered by a 225 HCCA. Pretty sick for that little power...

I want one of those amps!...will i push 4 American Bass VFL8D4's???

I had a single Orion xtr blue 12 in a sealed single hatch box and a smaller alpine bridged and it slammed! My coworker had two power acoustic amd two other off brand 12s amd a huge boss amp and could figure out why my 50x2 alpine hit way harder than his four 12s on that big boss amp lol

Look up Ray Rayfield and TIPS. Ray is the owner of Linear Power but also services amps. He's very trustworthy, sent me an amp that I got on trade from someone else and had asked to have all of the caps redone, he said there was no reason at all to. It is an Xtant 403a, he could have charged me for the whole job, instead he just charged me for the diagnostic fee.

You've got an awesome start man! Old school RF greatness. I recently stumbled across a pair of Power 12's, same vintage just 4 ohms. They need reformed but so far every placed I've contacted says, "sorry can't help....you might try so & so". This includes RF. Do you have any ideas who might have any new surrounds for these ancient monsters? Thanks man. Keep it up!

I remember 1994, I had four 15s in the trunk of my 1969 dodge Monaco.

The 1000's chromed hard!!

PPI 2075 hooked up in stereo (didnt have a bridging module) to two G and S design redline 12's in a ported box the size of a refrigerator. Slammed in my 72 vw beetle.
