Niva means a field. Not specifically corn field, but any type of agricultural field. Which is where it shines. Great little car for fishermen and hunters. Simple and unstoppable.

It’s like a Suzuki Samurai. Small, underpowered, but is unstoppable off-road with the right tires! I’ve driven one of these over 25 years ago and the sound of the engine struggle at high RPMs brought back some fun memories!

...I've gotten one of these up to 130 kilometers an hour/80 miles an hour on a highway in Ecuador once, downhill going with the wind. I thought I was going to die. The amount of shaking the car was doing was incredible.

we have a meet every year for lada nivas in Ecuador, the car is not the best for a high way use but in the Andes the car works great!
