He does indeed tell many anecdotes over and over. And like you said ,we do not mind. I'm glad someone else noticed. In a long running series like Jay's , one assumes many people are seeing you for the very first time, so the examples you use are relevant to many people even though they are repetitive to many others. There's probably hundreds to thousands of first time viewers for every episode. So the repeating stories are actually just shrewd placement of information Nuggets for newcomers. As any good writer would do in a long running series. Cheers

Granted he got lucky buying a estate in Portugal that included the car he owns. But now the best part is the idiots that claimed it's no Bugatti now want to buy his car and he refuses to sell to them no matter the price.

Since when is EB110 the unloved Bugatti? It wasn't the bedroom poster car like Diablo, Countach or TR512. Just like McLaren F1 wasn't. McLaren F1 and Bugatti exterior design was purposeful, so it didn't have that much "flare" for bedroom poster. None of the kids knew about F1 till Need for Speed 2 went out. 1993 EB110 SS is the car with best 90's Nurburgring time. And in 2019, it's still the fresh looking EB110 is better Bugatti than Ettore Bugatti ever made. It should be really named by Artioli. He made the better job of "not a single compromise" in making the best car.

They are great engines. I guess when VW moved on to the 2.0T they didn't think the extra valve was worth it. If you think about it, it's the most optimal valve layout in theory considering no space is left unused.

Don't get me wrong, a good use of music such as in some of Top Gear's fabulously produced pieces is great, particularly as it's arranged and mixed so as not to get in the way of the speech. It's having music in the background for the sake of it that's the problem. Like, if you have so little confidence in the ability of your content to hold people's attention without artificially-implied mood from (cheaply-bought, muso-screwing) library music, maybe think about improving your content.

And he's very comfortable talking to Jay. Plus, something Jay hasn't driven ever before--that's pretty rare. Great video!

The problem with the EB110 was that it was a acquired taste. Back in the early 90's everyone thought that car was hideous, but now everyone sees it as beautiful. Style had to catch up to it not the other way around. The designer was a master. Gives me a little respect for Schumacher. He seen how good it was from the beginning.

Both Ferrari and Lamborghini made their most beautiful cars in that era and then there were the concept cars and ultra-rare cars like the Tatra MTX, Jaguar XJR-15 Sport, Spectre R32 and of course the EB110. The other great thing about this era was it being a peak of powerful analogue supercars for the ones which were left - the Diablo SE30 Jota didn't have any electronic driving assists or even power steering and unlike the VTs was raw RWD and ready to make you realize it if you didn't already!

Matt Arnold Matt Arnold XJ220 is probably the best looking car of the era, but I still think aesthetically cars like the 458, The Aston Martin DB9 or the Murcielago are better looking than the EB110, F40 or the F1. Performance and driving feel I will agree with you. When I got my driver license my father and I drove to Germany and drove a 1993 Porsche 911 Targa, and there is no doubt the liberty carmakers had was special.

The company he's referring to which is servicing EB110 is B Engineering, located just minutes away from the Bugatti factory in Campogalliano. B Engineering is also the company behind the EDONIS which was supposed to be the "continuation" heir of the EB110 but never make it to the market (just very few cars were made). Here's their website in case someone is interested www.bengineering.it . I visited the Bugatti factory in Campogalliano and I can say that it's possibly the best factory I've seen in terms of design and layout, considering that it was built in late 80s is still a masterpiece of rational, classy and timeless design.

@Elton Joel If I remember correctly the property of the Factory is now of a real estate company. There was a project to convert the area into a shopping mall (destroying the factory) and I've seen sketches but it was abandoned some years ago due to lack of investors. Pagani is for sure not going to buy it as they've just built their own brand new factory/HQ 2 years ago and I also see no reason for them in being interested in such a project and investment.

When I was a kid, I had almost the entire collection of pages in "Wheels & Wings" from 1988 to 1991. This car was one of them that amazed me the most. I loved its whole combination of contemporary, futuristic, and supercar looks. The 1 other supercar of the time that stunned me was the XJ220, which had more of a "slingshot", "torpedo", and "missile" look to it, even though it still resembled a contemporary, futuristic supercar.

Certain angles of the EB are just tantalizing in my mind. I love the line/flow of the rear quarter panel from the downward-sloping roofline, the narrow top of the cockpit into the wide rear end, and the integration the body gives to the rear diffuser! Most likely just a coincidence, but I see styling cues resembling later models of other supercars (F430, LFA, Murci, etc). And that manual gearbox connecting the driver to a first-of-its-kind quad-turboed beast is an astonishing engine for its time! ..doesn't sound bad either. Definitely a cool car. I'd love to see a stylish (& functional) roof scoop, but I feel that way about [probably] too many supercars. Haha

I visited the Bugatti factory in Campogaliano, near Modena in Italy in the early 90's. It was a wonder to see. They had a beautiful V12 engine fixed on the wall of the entrance lobby. The office walls and corridors were covered in blue Bugatti leather (fake, I hope) and the plant floor was a spotless white. As I was a little short of money, I only bought a Bugatti tie and sweater at the gift shop.

Hi Jay. Have you heard of the Edonis made by Italian company B. Engineering ? They created a car from leftover Bugatti EB 110 chassis and engines after the early 1990's bankruptcy of the factory as you know and the staff included several ex-factory Personnel. They ditched the EB 110 four-wheel drive and adding two large turbos in place of the four original units made for a truly Savage creation and the Edonis had the looks to match with a body seemingly constructed entirely out of cooling ducts. I had the privilege of driving one of these four years ago while in Italy and let me tell you it changed Direction like a Ferrari F40 with sublime Precision and beautifully judged feel. As I mentioned they had gotten rid of the four turbos and fitted two large IHI units and also increased the capacity of the original engine from 3.5 l to 3.8 l. This thing was an absolute animal. It would Ambush your senses and slap them silly. The company's target was to produce 21 cars approximately but no one knows if they ever achieved this according to the owner of the car which I had driven.

The history about how the car came to be and how it was developed in house including the engine is fascinating. Shame a lot of that was not mentioned in the video. There is a great series of EB110 history videos including interviews with Bugatti test driver Loris Bicocchi on Davide Cironi youtube channel. Highly recommend if you really want to learn about EB110.

  • @ajax700

As many said, the history of this car is documented on Cironi's videos. Almost all the doubts they are having on this video are answered ha ha. Gandini was involved on body design, he doesn't think the car is beautiful, he distanced from the project dissatisfied/unhappy. For Jay all cars seem the most beautiful... Materazzi projected the engine, he thought 4 big turbos was too much (he solved the issue in the Edonis using only 2 turbos), he solved the integral traction they wanted to implement from 50-50% that they wanted (crazy too much in a sport car) to 27-73% front-rear traction split. He also distanced from the project dissatisfied/unhappy. Engineer Stanzani, one that started the proyect as leader or something like that, also got out and was replaced. Sadly this videos are getting a little boring, like made with a cookie cutter, many artsy shoots and they don't show the car details.
