I was 14 years old, when I started watching NASCAR . Now, I'm 44 years old. My eyes was on Michael Waltrip , he's my first driver I noticed and liked . 🏁

@@sandrahunter5749 Ol' Mikey was a much better driver than he gets credit for, but Earnhardt knew it & that's why he picked Mike to pilot that 15 NAPA Car in 2001. It would have been really interesting to see just what DW's little brother could have done, if Senior isn't killed in that first race at Daytona, but alas 😞

As much as the Ford's ran away with things in 1992, and lets be honest, they did a great job, the reality was that GM, especially Chevrolet in the first half of the season, just got the new cylinder head rules so wrong. When drivers like Dale Earnhardt and Rusty Wallace are at the peak of their abilities yet they are struggling to get into the top 10 in races that every other year they practically dominated (and history tells us they would again from 1993) ... you know that something has gone wrong somewhere. In a lot of ways, other than Harry Gant's consistency in the Olds and later Ernie Irvan, Darrell Waltrip and Kyle Petty winning a couple of races each ... 1992 was a complete disaster for GM cars in the Winston Cup. All power to Ford though. They did get it right in 1992. The cars were very good and with drivers like Kulwicki, Elliott and Allison they proved very very hard to beat.

I loved listening to the beginning of this "Raw Satellite" video 😃!! Hearing the PA Announcer's giving the starting line-up to the fans in the stands reminded me of being in the stands myself, at so many major motorsports events in my younger days. My Father, starting in 66, took me too many races growing up, & I continued attending, both with & without Pop until the mid 2000's & there's nothing like "being there in person"! It's the only way to really know how the general public really feels about the Drivers, they'll never lie to you, like the TV & Radio folks will 🙄 I literally laughed out loud, when they announced Dale Sr & the stands rained down Boo's! 😆 Then the eruption of cheer's for Awesome Bill & of course, the loudest cheering by far, was for Ol' King Richard! Long Live The KING!! 😊👍 I stopped attending races awhile back, as they just got TOO DAMNED EXPENSIVE, but everyone should attend one race, just to experience that thrill of being there in person 😉👍

What Alan wanted to say at the end is that he went into the last pit stop in 2nd and came out 5th. That’s really what cost him the race.

TBS was always seen as way below ESPN and ABC back in these days. However look at how authentic that final lap was. No need for constant different angles. The shots of the fans and the pit-crews right after.

There weren't enough race savvy tv folks to go around back then, so the booth guys (Ken, Ned, Benny, Bonnet ect...) had to lead the tv people, practically by the hand through the telecast every race. I always felt TBS & TNN were the best at showing the races in they're truest form, with the least amount of UNNECESSARY fluff. With that said, I never saw a Ken Squire called race, that I thought sucked, he could make watching nothing feel like watching something! 💪

@@MrChristopherHaas Man I couldn't agree more about Lampley & Posey👎🤮 But I have to disagree about Bobby Unser. Infact, the only time I could stomach that pompous ass Posey, was when Uncle Bobby was there to say "NO! You're WRONG SAM" 😂 And you know what, Bobby was ALWAYS right! 💪😉 😳👉Just realized you didn't mention Lampley! Must have been a slight oversight on both of our parts! 😉👍

@@gaffneyrailroading1982 when they had Baker and Bonnett in there, yes. I dunno, TNN broadcasts came along at the same time Jeff Gordon did. Gordon is my benchmark, along with his lookalike Tom Cruise, that represents the beginning of the long downhill slope.

1992 was the season to remember for me. I was only 12 at the time and It was the first time my dad and I watched (and recorded on VHS tape) every race from the Daytona 500 to the Hooters 500. I was a GM boy and loyal to the Intimidator and my back up driver was Ernie Irvan while my dad was a blue oval man supporting Davey Allison and Alan Kulwicki. The season had so many high and low moments. The highest of the high for us was having to go to our 1st Nascar race in June on Father's Day weekend at Michigan. But the ending to this season was magical. Who knew Ford would dominate the first third of the season. Mr. February kicking off here. Then Earnhardt having to break that ford streak by the time the Coca Cola 600 rolled around. In the end it was 6 drivers (and not Earnhardt) who had a shot at that title and the rest as they say is history...
