Those were the last real nascar. Mercury, Ford, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Dodge, Plymouth,Buick, racing with a real car, heavily modified but all different, not just a shell with all the same features. Half of these brands don't exist anymore. Pontiac/Oldsmobile/ Mercury. I'm glad to remember these years. These cars were flying.

Back when "racing", was..."racing". Golden Age of NASCAR. Grew up about 5 miles from A.J. Foyt's ranch...he was us kids' hero in the 70's.

The high point of a surprisingly subpar 2001 season for Roush Racing. Really, the only year in the Taurus era that Roush didn't either have a big-time race winner or a top 5 threat.
