This is fantastic footage. I think it's about time I subbed to the channel. That V12 Honda had an ear splitting sound and would shake the ground on the downchange. And Wendlinger in the March at the end with small local Montreal businesses plastered all over the car. The good ole days of privateers. You will have 16 car grid next year when another 2-3 teams vanish. Pathetic

Serious question: if there was a new racing series. Modern cars (identical), classic 90s looks, V8, V10 and V12s, and liveries that are also 90s lookalikes. Would you watch it?

Love how you can tell a Ferrari is about to pass by just by hearing the downshifts at the chicane, from like 200m back.

Man those esses was blindingly quick !

Until they sterilized the track and made half of it one straight line. A travesty.

3.22 really captures the true speed as in real life. I used to watch them stood at the entry into becketts. That was very similar...you got a good impression of grip and speed!

@@robhurley5258 The speed at which they changed direction was mind blowing. No youtube footage captures that! I have looked hard too. There is some good footage I found...Donington 1993 friday amauter footage, this captures the reality somewhat, how many cars where out at one time etc.

Sure is . Back then we’d go back to the track when it was getting dark and brazenly walk through the teams garages from the back out to the front. I walked right by Frank Williams who was in an aluminum tubed device that held him upright, roughly equivalent to standing, in the Williams garage. He probably had “bed sores” from so much sitting. I made sure to speed by and not look him in the face. Needless to say I don’t think we could get away with doing that now 😁.

That’s funny and sounds like something we would do 😂. I remember walking inside the Tyrrell area back when the paddock was behind the hairpin and Ken Tyrrell gave me a dirty look and muttered something like “ what is this?”

I’m surprised we were never accosted by ANY security guards ever. I remember talking to a young man from California who was polishing the 7up Jordan in 1991 i guess. He wasn’t getting paid, but we all would have volunteered to take over. Gorgeous car. Another thing I remember is seeing the Ferrari mechanics “setting up” Prosts car by putting their body weight on whichever side of the wing they wanted a lower measurement from the floor 😳. No wonder Alain said it handled like a truck 😂.

I was there at the race and picked up a titanium skid plate from Nigel’s wing end plate in that area just before the champions wall. It had a hand engraved serial number on it and still had some carbon attached. I haven’t seen it for 20 years and have no idea if I still have it 😢.
