2:00:37 K. Davis Big Run
2:03:32 Reich 17-yard TD Pass to Reed
2:16:20 Al Del Greco 26-yard Field Goal
2:20:05 Start of Overtime
2:23:36 Moon Intercepted by Odomes
2:28:41 Christie 32-yard Field Goal
The Bills were down-and-out on two counts; they were trailing 35-3 to a talented Houston Oilers team and their starting quarterback, Jim Kelly, was was out due to an injury he suffered the week before to those same Oilers. The situation looked hopeless, but the team rallied around backup Frank Reich and went on a 35-3 second half run before winning the game in overtime. The 32 point deficit is the largest any NFL team has ever overcome on the way to a win.

TRUE STORY: The day this game aired, I remember thinking at halftime that the game was over, so I took a nap and had set my alarm so I'd wake up right when the next game was to start. When I woke up and turned on the TV, the very first thing I heard was, "... the greatest comeback in the history of the National Football League." It's nice to finally see what I slept through.

This game is legend in Buffalo for sure. Some fans gave up at halftime and left just to get out of the cold. Fans in the nosebleed seats had an opportunity to come down to empty seats and get a better view of the biggest comeback win in NFL history.

Loved Andre Reed. He was absolutely fearless coming across the middle. A very unselfish teammate and a great guy too. Instead of making his Hall of Fame speech all about himself he made it into a tribute to his former QB...Jim Kelly...who was suffering from cancer at the time. One of the best receivers I've ever seen after the catch as well. Very deserving of the HOF.

Yeah the problem was they had the ingredients but they had the wrong formula. They had a talented defense, a great O-line and good runningbacks so they should have drafted some tight ends and fullbacks and played smashmouth football. If Buddy Ryan was the coach they would have gone further or hell Bum Phillips.

I understand the importance of having the clock on the screen in 2 minute drills and things like that. But these games literally had the score and clock posted at the start of almost every drive.

This 1992 Oilers team may have been the most sure-fire Super Bowl contender of the Run-N-Shoot era (1990-1993). Had they simply hung on to this win they would've taken care of both Pittsburgh and Miami as Buffalo did and there would have been a monumental Super Bowl vs the young Dallas Cowboys. When Bubba McDowell returned the 3rd quarter pick for a TD, the Oilers' radio announcers including legendary coach Bum Phillips sang songs of triumph. It was the highest moment the Oilers and their fans would have until the team was taken away after the 1996 season. The first two and half quarters are still ambrosia for us Oilers fans. We will always remember this amazing performance.

The greatest comeback in NFL history. Bar none. People just want to say Super Bowl LI because it's the Super Bowl, and it's the Patriots, and it's so very recent. But we have to remember, they had Tom Brady and Bill Bellichick. The Bills didn't have their Hall of Fame Quarterback. I repeat, they did this with a BACKUP QUARTERBACK. At least with the Patriots, Brady and Bellichick had a shot because they were them. But this should not have been even POSSIBLE in the FIRST PLACE. Super Bowl LI has the advantage in just stage, and that's it. In every other manner, this comeback has it beat. Super Bowl LI is the greatest comeback in Super Bowl history, without a doubt. It's the No. 2 comeback. But The Comeback is The Comeback. You don't get any better than that.

I watched this game with a flu and a fever of 104, drifting in and out of consciousness. Every time I came to, the Bills were closer and closer. When I finally fell asleep at the end of the game and woke up after dark, I was sure I dreamed the whole thing. I'm a Cowboys fan, so this was a fun era. Not so much now.

My late father and I were at the game. I've thought of him a lot lately with the Hamlin situation and wanted to see the highlights again. We were at the 10 yard line, mid-level. Christie's overtime kick was in our end. On that overcast day, we couldn't see the kick well enough to know by eye if it split the uprights. It was the crowd on the other end and with the better vantage point that told us. What a roar. Have never experienced that kind of hysteria. Strangers hugging each other, people breaking spontaneously into cheers as we walked up the exit ramps. My dad was the truest of Bills fans. Not a word from him about us leaving at 35-3. Go Bills.

Jerry Gray had 2 legitimate beefs with Beebe after the onside kick in the 3rd Q. Beebe clearly wasn't down at the 42 and fumbled. Gray recovered. Then on the TD pass a few plays later Beebe was out of bounds on the route.

  • @Unknown-bq9id

Today, Gray could have just thrown the challenge flag on either of those plays, and either would have gone his way (the latter is more likely to be a successful challenge, IMO)...

I watched this game aboard the U.S.S. Saratoga in Fla. while on duty with a shipmate from Alabama. He was a huge Crimson Tide fan and loved the fact that C. Bennett was a Bills player. We pretty much watched the entire thing, and needless to say, the way it turned around in the second half was memorable.

Greatest comeback in NFL history was the Patriots over the Falcons in the superbowl. The bills don't even come close to winning this game if there were instant replay back then. Beebe was way out of bounds and came back in as well as other plays that were missed.

It was so cold out, the water was freezing onto the car, and my Mom was screaming from the door that Buffalo was coming back and that we should all come back inside while my Dad insisted there was no chance. Ah the memories.
