1991 Buffalo Bills Team Highlights

The 1991 Buffalo Bills Video Yearbook. Another great 13-3 season! I know this video is already out there (VHSafterlife got it up first), but I want to share my copy anyways.

    That long TD run by Kenneth Davis was awesome! That dude was definitely an unsung guy on those teams.

    Many of the backup players on those Bills teams couldve been starters on many other teams...guys like Frank Reich, Kenneth Davis, Don Beebe, Steve Tasker, Pete Metzelaars, Carlton Bailey, Mark Maddox, and Marvcus Patton gave the Bills one of the deepest rosters in the NFL. They typically didn't miss a beat when one of their key players was injured

    As a life long bills fan it's still hard to swallow the fact that those 90s bills didn't win atleast 1 . I do believe if we had a bye before the superbowl like it is now we would've won 2 of those.

    The NFL was better. The good teams were all around better, as well as the not so good teams (minus two or three)Fans that remember know it too....NFC, AFC, The Pro Bowl all meant something then. Bengals, Browns, Oilers, Raiders, Broncos, Dolphins, Bears, Giants, 49er's, Redskins, Eagles, Rams, Cowboys to name a few. Run past you, over you, body bag games, house of pain, LT, Marino, Young, Montana, Moon, Elway, Esiason, Kosar, Everette, Allen, Payton, Rice, Lott, Craig, Deion, Barry, Bo, Okoye... So many more. Jim Kelly, Thomas, Reed, Bruce Smith, Bennett, Coach Marv Levy and everybody that played in Buffalo thank you for being in the NFL then and forever. DYNASTY?? ABSOLUTELY!!!!!

    The NFL definitely was better. I think the era of smash mouth football became extinct was around 2014 or 15'. Haven't seen any legendary defenses since nor any hardcore matchups or intense rivalries. Even the Steelers Ravens rivalry is starting to get stale. I would do anything to travel back in the 80s or 90s and watch football.

    Kickoffs used to bring some excitement. Not anymore. Automatic start at 25 yd line. Silly penalties that shouldn't be called. 6 teams per conf was a good number in the playoffs. 7 per conf is kinda odd and only gives 1 team a bye. Plus all the nonsense things they put on the end line of the end zone now.. "IT TAKES ALL OF US... END RACISM.. yadda yadda.. I could go on.. Oh and putting 2 teams in LA? 😂 LA can't even support 1 team. It should have been the LA Raiders alone. I liked the NFL pre- Goodell better.

    "The Biscuit" was underrated big time, mostly because he played with the best pass rusher ever to play the game. Bennett was definitely the second best defender to ever wear a Bills uniform though IMO. Nearly every single snap of the ball if he wasn't making the play himself, he was helping to make it and was very close to the ball. He was a disruptive force that offensive coordinators HAD to game plan specifically for every game, and if they didn't, their team's payed the price. We haven't had a player of his caliber on our team since he left, as much as I do like Darius and Kyle Williams {even though they are DT's they're the closest to Biscuit's caliber that we've had}

    I agree. With Bennett, Darryl Talley, and Shane Conlan the Bills had one of the best linebacking corps in the NFL at one time. Bruce Smith ate up at least two blockers on every single play so it opened up things for the rest of the Bills defenders. That was a pretty solid defense but we're a bit undersized up front other than Bruce Smith. And that one weakness showed up in those Super Bowls. In fact they played against two of the best offensive lines in NFL history...Washington's Hogs in SB26 and The Great Wall of Dallas in SB27 and 28

    Bennett was probably the best all around outside linebacker in the AFC in that era. Derrick Thomas of the Chiefs was the better pass rusher but Bennett was a better all around player I think.

    With the sheer volume of talent accumulated in Buffalo between 1988-1996, there is no way on earth that the Bills should not have won at least a pair of Super Bowls. I have studied that roster and in many of those years, there were no noticeable holes in the offense, defense or special teams (or even with the coaching). The loss in XXV was by a hair and frankly Buffalo should have demolished the Giants. Credit to the Bills for orchestrating that win. Buffalo should have been right there to win either XXVII or XXVIII. Anyway, the team still is regarded by true football fans and historians as one of the great "almost dynasties" in NFL history. Few teams could compete with Buffalo in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

    @@Davidjon1946 They should've slaughtered the Giants. If they took the hint from the Giants defense and ran the ball with Thurman Thomas 30+ times they would've gained 250 yards on the ground and it would've kept their defense off the field and fresh. No idea why they kept insisting on throwing the ball when the Giants had 6-7 defensive backs on the field and only 2-3 down linemen on every down. Kelly had all day to throw but nobody to throw it to. Credit to Parcells and Belichick's defensive scheme. Coaching is what won it for the Giants and lost it for Buffalo. Marv Levy and Ted Marchibroda were thoroughly outcoached

    Unfortunately, the Bills were out coached in those 4 years in the super bowls. NY game all they did was rush 3 daring the Bills to run and Kelly never picked up on it. They were so caught up in the K-gun office they failed to see what NY was doing until it was too late. Ego's lost that super bowl. Washinton, one of their moron coached made a comment to the media mocking the Hogs front line, that motivate the Skins to tear apart the Bills. Dallas they made the mistake of using the shuffle pass in warm-ups and Jimmy Johnson saw it and they knew the formation and they were able to stop the Bills all day. Again Kelly and the ego of the Bills got the best of them. It was also rumored that the Bills did way too much partying the night before SB25. Why the coaching staff did not place a curfew on the team is beyond me - again ego got the best of them. I know that I will never see this team win a SB in my lifetime (I am 60 yrs old).

    Kelso wasn't very fast but he was a very smart, instinctive player and always seemed to be around the ball. He was one of the better free safetys in the NFL at one time. Henry Jones was a really good Bills safety too but he wasn't drafted til 92 I think. He led the NFL in interceptions as a rookie I believe. Leonard Smith was a pretty good strong safety on the 1990-91 Bills AFC Championship teams as well
