Hard to believe they actually played professional football on some of those fields (and in some of those stadiums). Those were humbler, better days.

My mom marched in the halftime show and some of their bands shoes came off in the mud. This was the game vs the patriots 3 minutes in.

The old AFL had some beauties! It was not till Shea Stadium and Oakland Coliseum came along that it had newer stadiums they would be proud of. Many old barns like the Rockpile or worse existed in San Diego (Balboa), KC (Municipal), Boston (Fenway and others), Houston and Cincinnati.

Week two against the San Francisco 49ers was the first time they played each other. They would not meet again until the final game of the 1980 season. Buffalo won 21-17 at the stick.

My friends(Jets fans) and I (huge Bills fan) drove up to the old Rockpile (7 hours from downstate) for its last home opener. I was very disappointed as Bills were totally hapless in that game and expected more. But the fun was watching my friends horror at having to drive to the stadium downtown from our hotel on Delaware Ave. pretty much through a police state. They could not believe such a place existed after all they were used to the nice and still fresh Shea Stadium. Some the "locals" yelled at us as we walked by their homes walked by their homes and my friends were actually scared. When inside they were equally horrified at the old place that was ugly and falling apart. Me? I loved the entire experience except for the game and fell in love with the place! A place till then I had only seen on TV. In fact the night before I spotted Steve Tannen Jets safety eating at Howard Johnsons and as we walked out I turned and said "Hey Tannen you are gonna get burned by Dennis Shaw tomorrow big time "! and he just looked up and smiled" Yeah that didnt go so well in fact if I recall he picked Shaw off twice. But long live the Rockpile still beloved and missed by Bills fans up here.

I nearly got killed as a little boy going to games at the Rock Pile. We were coming home from a preseason night game on a bus and the locals threw chunks of concrete through the bus windows shattering glass and cutting people up!

I didn’t realize O.J. had a TD pass. I think his 2000 plus yard season was the greatest feat in the history of the N.F.L.

@1:46 now you would have 20 different replays and camera actions, was his knee down before he crossed the goal line, and hold up the game for ten minutes

Not complaining, just curious as to why you would split this into two parts. I mean it's not like the entirety would be long.

@@andyprovin9108 THANK YOU for this! I appreciate going back in time (when 18) and seeing my favorite Bills team in the early 70s. Was a big Dennis Shaw fan when he came on in 70. Its awesome.
