Once the Reds plated 7 runs on the board in that top half of the 3rd inning, it was pretty much a forgone conclusion that the Reds were on their way to a World Series, which was still shocking in the fashion that they did so.

@Montana Roots The A's were already toast after Canseco screwd up in Game 2, although they very well could have sent the Series back to Cincy. But then, Moore would have started Game 6, and in Riverfront, they could have scord twice as many as they got at the Coliseum. He was brutal that year, not just in the postseason, and even though he had much better numbers in '91, he was so-so in '92, with two bad outings in the playoffs. With this game, the shot of him warming up in the bullpen, and looking like he'd rather be somewhere else, pretty much summed up the night for the A's.

@Montana Roots i was 12 years old at this time. There was no doubt in my mind that the reds were gonna beat the A's. I saw the reds all year thumping everybody pirates included. And led by eric davis and barry larkin , and with jose rijo and tom browning leading the pitching staff and the nasty boys in the bullpen i gave the A's no chance. Maybe i saw it that way because i was a young fella but i just felt the reds were the superior team. Legendary

Cincinnati Reds fans are so glad to have had the Houston Astros as a triple a team. After all, they gave us THE Joe Morgan, Cesar Cedeno, and Jack Bellingham in the 70's, and Billy Hatcher and Bill Doran for the 1990 WS season. Shame homeboy B. Doran was injured. A Cincinnati dp duo, Larkin and Doran.

I will always believe that this Reds team was one of the best to ever play. It was short lived, but man they killed 1990. If they didn’t beat you with offense they beat you with pitching and rock solid defense. The infield was legendary , outfielders were as athletic as they come. And the Nasty Boys held it down . Can’t ask for more.

When this game aired originally, I didn't get on the radio until all the scoring was over with. But Mike Moore's high ERA coupled with the Reds tendency to always score runs for Browning, I knew it would happen. Actually after game 2, I knew it would be a sweep. I would have put money on it. After game 2 they had beaten Stewart, beaten Eckersley, the A's couldn't get Billy Hatcher out. And I had forgotten how good a 3rd baseman Chris Sabo was. He was Brooks Robinson Junior in this game. In game 4 when Stewart beans Hatcher in the first inning, I knew they were really desperate. It was still a close game and it ended with a great pitcher's duel.

I always thought it was asinine that they gave the 1981 World Series MVP award to three Dodger players - why not just give it to the whole team, for crying out loud - but in this series it could justifiably have been given to three Reds players: Rijo, Sabo and Hatcher. Of the three, I think Sabo was most deserving.

Check out this pattern of World Series appearances by the A's throughout their history: 1905 - New York Giants (L) 1910 - Chicago Cubs (W) 1911 - New York Giants (W) 1913 - New York Giants (W) 1914 - Boston Braves (L) 1929 - Chicago Cubs (W) 1930 - St. Louis Cardinals (W) 1931 - St. Louis Cardinals (L) 1972 - Cincinnati Reds (W) 1973 - New York Mets (W) 1974 - Los Angeles Dodgers (W) 1988 - Los Angeles Dodgers (L) 1989 - San Francisco Giants (W) 1990 - Cincinnati Reds (L) They made 1 WS in a row once. Then they made 2 WS in a row twice. Then they made 3 WS in a row three times. No telling when they'll get back again, but if they do, it's gonna be a pretty sweet 4-year run for A's fans!

Jack Buck, class broadcaster of sports. Joe his son is subpar in my opinion. I only view old baseball contests. Not interested in MLB any longer. David
