Late to the party here but the torque converter was not locking up here. So this is accurate rpm for a malfunctioning transmission.

Isn't a turbo always pushing more then ambient pressure? Why else you need a turbo then? Or do you mean turbo pressure > 1013hPa?@@Jacks__Garage

Do a mechanical fan to electric swap. You'll be surprised to get better results

cooling isn't as good or reliable as a traditional engine powered fan.

@@Adi-kr5nd it is if your one fans with higher cfm. The traditional engine fan really robs the engine of horsepower. I tested the difference between the traditional and electric. Installed the traditional back and felt like I was pulling a rock but with dual electric and a sequoia alternator it rocks. Or even best get electric fans from a modern day Mercedes you'll enjoy your vehicle. I'm never going back to traditional fans no longer wasting horsepower. Even best I once got to 160kmhs with my 31s on a 3fe at about 2500rpm. My traditional fans at 140 feels like my engine mine blow up. Besides it extends the life of the water pump

@@gonkinsmedia I guess it really does depend on the application. In Australia there's a lot of mud, bog-holes, steep climbs to high altitude and even a fair share of rock crawling. We race comp trucks down here and after you go through a fair bit of water and bog holes the electric fans either cease operation, or they aren't able to draw enough air through the muddy/dusty radiator. Almost all of the trucks in Long Course events evens here run viscous fans due to their durability and ability to work even after the engine has been dunked in mud a few times. But again in your case, you don't need the heavy duty viscous fan as (i'm going to assume) you don't find yourself in an off-road situation as much as the rest of the world does. Toyota designs these vehicles to be able to handle the toughest conditions on the planet hence why even the new land cruisers still have a mechanical viscous fan as they simply are just more reliable.

For off-road the traditional fan does its job for city driving electric is recommended.

@@gonkinsmedia Then again it depends on the motor, if its an absolute torque monster like the 1hd-t,1hd-ft and 1hd fte in a land-cruiser, your not going to feel any difference on the road. But a 2.7 petrol hilux would definitely feel a difference.

If you have an Auto gearbox, it may not be changing into top. Depending if you have done a lot of Km, without a catchcan you may have choked off the intake.
