To mark Ukrainian Independence Day, ITN Archive is presenting three reports from 1990-91, charting the rise of the Ukrainian independence movement amid the disintegration of the USSR.
The first of these reports is from February 1990 and looks at Rukh, the nascent Ukrainian nationalist movement made up of a broad anti-communist coalition. The report takes a pessimistic view of Rukh's chances in the upcoming elections.
