1990 LuAZ 969M | Unique Features & Functions

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

It is hard to determine what type of vehicle this is - a truck, or an SUV, or something special. It is one of a kind. Its foldable tarp roof makes it a great summer vehicle.
This 1990 LUAZ 969M is a one-owner vehicle (you can still see original USSR plates on it) that has been rarely used, never involved in any accidents, and never winter driven. All this is very rare for a 4x4 vehicle that was built to go fishing and hunting all year round. A very unique find! Despite its age, it is in like-new condition, and it will take you to the most remote places.
In 1979 LUAZ was recognized as one of the best vehicles for outdoorsmen at an International automotive exhibition in the Czech Republic. Indeed, the LUAZ was intended to be a vehicle of choice for, foresters and farmers. However, throughout almost 40 years of production, only slightly over 200,000 vehicles were made. This is one of the reasons why this car is so rare.

To be more accurate, it was produced in the Soviet Union and later Ukraine, so this is a SU-collectible, not Russian. Concerning 'high quality' - it was never considered here as a 'high quality vehicles', basically as any vehicle produced in SU. But, it is very, very maintainable even with the simplest tools, even in the middle of nowhere in the mud. And yes it is very capable off road. But the owner driving it must be almost a serviceman - familiar with the vehicle and able to fix at least most unreliable systems. For the low gear - it has ratio of 7,2 which produces a final crawl ratio as high as 150! This is probably to compensate for relatively weak engine which only has 40 HP. There are different versions of wheel hubs with even higher ratios, and they were used as towing cars in airports. Used cars are still available for sale, but mostly with engines from another vehicles and replaced subsystems, rarely original.

My grandfather had a zaporozhets, many years ago. The funniest thing he told me about it, is the trunk that located at the front is made on purpose, because on top speed of 40km/h you gotta keep an eye on your stuff (some pedestrian could steal it from you while you driving)

It was producing in the Soviet Union from 1970s, but only in Ukrainian Soviet Republic. And after the collapse of the Soviet Union it was producing in the independent Ukraine until 2000es. So it has nothing to do with Russia, except that Russia has always wanted to see Ukraine as part of its empire

@@bololollek9245 A propaganda thesis that Russians have begun to use recently. Ukraine has the first letter "U", and "outskirts" has the first letter "o". Ukraine refers to the Ukrainian word "kraina" - that is, "country", but not "outskirts". Until the 20th century, in many works it was called "Vkraina"

would be cool if you actually explained WHAT it is - like, why was it procudes, where, why (cheap off road vehicle for example) what technology was used (from which private cars), etc. cause like this is like teaching you to swim by throwing you into the pool - could be done better.
