no, not at all. i am a fan of old cars and copse was tigher, till 200x, but lots of corners missing. if you see modern tracks how they sweep through complexes with 5,5g and 6g on the brakes, this was back then lower than 4g in the race and 3,5g on the brakes so yes, all proper, super stuff, but modern F1 is not worse. much more overtaking. back then cars were 2s apart and yet no overtaking. today the whole grid is within 1sec and still we see overtaking.

@@MrTiti spoken like someone who has never watched a race. The cars were, for the most part, able to follow more closely back then, because they had less downforce. When teams figured out how to use aerodynamic appendages to spoil air behind the cars, around the late 90s, is when the racing really started to suffer. We still see this problem today, and the only reason they "overtake" at all is because of DRS. The cars are entirely too large nowadays, which doesn't help the aerodynamic issues either.

@@richcam427 absolutely incredible. 1st Mistake you make: You cannot differentiate that your opinion and reality are not necessarily the same. 2nd your conclusion on my persons are wrong. 3rd how do you assume i have never watched a race... 4th talking to you is pretty much useless, because your level of expertise is obviously completely low. you do not understand the slightest part of aerodynamics. 5th look at the facts, all discussion is useless since all i say is observable in reality. final result: you fail in thinking, lknowledge and the assumptions you make are a prove taht you cannot think with logic. pretty one of the biggest daring persons i have met to shout the mouth off.

Man that abbey corner was something else!!

That Lambo V12 sounded great and blew-up even better...

Back when silverstone track was criticised for having that one chicane at the final turn.

Definitely the best layout Silverstone had and such a great sound from the Lamborghini engine. Formula ones golden era.

I prefer the 1991-1993 layout with the new maggots-becketts complex and the new section after Bridge.

Silverstone must've felt like the closest modern F1 has come to racing in an oval. Fast speeds (except for that final chicane), few corners, all out driving.

There's not much wrong with the current layout. Every type of corner, lots of high speed and places to pass. The only bad part is the last 2 corners.

Was good driver . Under rated

I used to spectate between Club and Abbey during those days. The F1 cars were so fast they were simply a blur as they flashed past.

The old tracks used to flow beautifully. Now they butcher them but sharpening the corners. They did it here at Copse and Becketts to name a couple and also did the same to Hockenheim and what's now known as the RB Ring

Thank god all they've done at Monza is fiddle with the shape of the Rettifilo chicane. Its been pretty much left in its (mostly) high speed state and hasn't been fucked over like the usual Tilkedrome.

Man those cars must have been such a joy to drive. I'm sure the race was hard and very physical, but one lap, ugh. I bet that's a good time

Old Silvertone,pure coners and not chicane

This was F1 in the best years. It's changed too much now!

Stowe and Club corners were corners that DARE drivers to take them flat

It’s crazy how after 40 years the track didn’t really change all that much from the 1950 layout with the one change being the chicane at the end

How boring this layout was! 1991 improved it so much. I prefer the 1991-1993 and the 1997-2009 layout is a close second. But I'm really glad 1991 brought all the famous corners like Maggots and Becketts, Vale, Bridge (was ruined after 2009) and Luffield

Laptime 1:09? somehow 2 corners missing and maggots, becketts and the end also is missing the tight corners

@@GECKOZFTW these days they might go flat out through this layout. maybe with low wing config, but i think it would be rather high wing, the gain is so much for the fast corners
