Rebuilding the front suspension and steering on dad's 89 LS powered iroc. We gotta get this car running and driving well before we can dive into more power!

well done. Going with a 383 alum. heads, 200-4r for my '91 conv. G92 rear, and have C5 wheels so 245/45/17 fronts. The Hochkis springs are too low so went stock rears but asking how is the ride with UMI fronts for street? The PNW roads suck, and admit i'm in my 50's so done with harsh feel. Besides, I will beat the car up plenty so looking for a good medium. Thx

so i've had them in over a year now and i've done all kinds of stuff with the car since then. i LOVE these springs. they're just enough of a drop to look good without being absolutely slammed and dragging the car everywhere. they have good enough characteristics at the drag strip without being too sloppy for spirited driving on the backroads of the mid-atlantic region. i would absolutely buy them again. i like them so much, i actually put them on my website to sell to others. walter-racecraft.myshopify.com/products/umi-82-92-lowering-springs

Are those the same tires from 10 years ago? it doesnt look as high as I was afraid it would, but it was always a good looking car.

Probably. It needs new tires. It also needs a new paint job lol.

I did the same job a few months ago on my '86 including the idler arm, did you include that too? I have never got the front springs in without a compressor, jack lifts car before springs compress. One more Q, what steering wheel do you have, I NEED one lol ?

yes i did the idler arm as well, just didn't do a great job of showing that part. i've never had great luck with spring compressors. have always done the crowbar method. though i admit that method is much easier with a 2nd set of hands. there was a point on the passenger's side reassembly i almost gave up and went inside. had to readjust the angle of my mouth and it seemed to fall into place after that. the steering wheel is a grant part number 690. i just installed it a couple videos ago. it was ep6 of the 1984 camaro build kzread.info/dash/bejne/naqkmqh7icrUgbA.html

@@malcolmdyer6090 ...yeah...sure.... "on next episode, i crash my dad's iroc due to no brakes!" lol. jk, but for real i'm getting new pads coming this week before i drive it much more. the rotors look good enough and i don't want them to get tore up due to pads delaminating haha.

Im terrified of compressors. I bought one to do mine years ago and could just never get it to compress enough when arranged in a way that you could get to it after it was installed. Crowbar method is the only way to go. Last time I installed stock springs it took me literally 10 minutes to do with the crowbar... and it took me about 3 hours of sweating bullets trying to make the spring compressor land mine work.

They are UMI springs as part of a set, part number 2461. Pick your favorite vendor for purchasing. If Walter Racecraft is where you'd like to make your purchase, you're welcome to email me and we can get you set up! matthew.walter84@gmail.com
