    That 212.809 lap that Bill Elliott ran is the main reason NASCAR went to the restrictor plates. All the GM drivers had been complaining since 1985 about Bill running so fast. They tried to say it was for safety after Bobby Allison's airborne crash in ' 87.

    The Michael Waltrip crash is pretty amazing. I wonder if his head bounced off the steering wheel? That was very close to being very serious...

    tuowl05 I think it actually did. The visor that was on the front of his helmet is broken, so to say that would definitely not be out of order.

    Joey Quintal First driver from my home state of Michigan to win a Cup Series race. It wouldn't happen again until Johnny Benson won his only Cup Series victory in late 2002 at Rockingham. Years later, along came Brad Keselowski, and likely very soon Erik Jones will join them.

    01:09:00 just amazing how Ken Schrader come back on the track really it's worthy of day of thunder movie really when cole trickle slips and starts again on the track ! I don't know why and how , ken is exit or of track ? yet he was right next to phil parsons, and nothing touched him to get him off the track?
