I love a truck on tall, skinny's. That's how a truck should look!

Agree. They are really great builds. Way over the top with the decals. I like the wood engraving, don’t even mind a couple decals outside but the glove box? Wouldn’t deter me from buying one though
love what you guys are doing. Affordable camping trucks for the everyday person. Keep up the good work!

This is the best body style of suburban.
Nice Build. Install a CB or Ham radio inside, give yourself some emergency communications in case your out of cell phone range. Great Job. 👍🏻
It's my dream to travel the world in a car, but all I have is a truck and wasn't hoping to overdo it with money, thank you

get a 6x10 trailer to pull behind it.
I have an '88 GMC suburban 4X4 with 350ci, 4 speed manual, spring over and locked rear. I Dyna matted the interior which helped quiet it down and working on using cedar strips for headliner. The "Big Red Nasty" is coming along nicely. Thank you for the inspiration to tackle the project.

Hey I have a 1988 Chevy suburban with the 350 v8 motor have you come across any sites that have new interior carpet the fabric door panels for a good price? Please let me know if you do because I’m trying to start fixing it up nice
I have a 2005 Yukon 4wd which I adore. I would love to do this to it.
Every time I watch these videos I get so excited for when my time comes. ❤

Nice!
Great job! I'm currently building my 2000 expedition. Thanks for the inspiration on the woodwork
Clean, classic. Love it!
That thang is awesome. Love everything about it.
Love it, all of it. I’m a finish carpenter and would love to outfit a vehicle with storage. I’ve built out some trailers for myself and other tradesmen. I’ve made a few different center consoles for my standard cab second gen Ram with behind of seat storage. I work in New England so I work on a lot of really old houses so using a scribe is a way of life. Love the ceiling as well. What your doing looks like fun!
Great job. I started these types of mods on my 2000 Expedition but hope to move on to an Excursion soon and tour from NE to FLA and on to Montana. Very nice workmanship......
A 90' suburban was my first vehicle! This build is a dream come true!!!
2:52 LOVE that truck-door-CLOSED sound!
They made suburbans that year that had a fiberglass topper which is the same as a g20 van. I found one in new mexico but they are rare. They even had skylights
Wow this is really cool! I just heard about this for the first time today. I might start doing some stuff like this on our '87.
Nice! I have a k20 that im building into a nice wood's rig. Im not going rock crawling or mudding, but I want it to be reliable when I take it deep into the woods for a few days.
Absolutely clean and gorgeous❤❤❤truck
Simple yet practical. 👍
super clean! wow
That is really nice, I actually ran into a couple last summer that had one of your builds, again really nice. Jason

Nice! I love old Squares. My dad still has his 1979 GMC pick up that he bought off the showroom floor in July 1979. I currently have a 1999 K2500 Chevy Suburban with the 454 that is currently sitting at only 113,000 miles. Love that old truck. Would love to build something like this with it, but it would have to be easily removable, as I still need to truck for things like hauling kids all over the country. I use it to pull our homebuilt teardrop trailer a good bit, as well.

Cool build! I love the old square bodies, relatively simple solid trucks. A Gullwing door option would be cool so you can access gear and kit without having to crawl inside.
I love that body style. I had a 74 custom deluxe pickup, I loved it.

Love my Suburban !!! ❤❤❤
I had a 1991 (final year of the squarebody) that was almost exactly the same as yours. Former government vehicle. Made a lot of memories in it but got rid of it when it became too unreliable and needed too much work, not enough time or money. I still regret selling it. If I could go back in time I'd love to do what you did with yours with the bed and cabinets and take it on adventures.
This is very nostalgic and a great build!

Great
Beautiful Burb, nicely done. You might could call this a resto mod
Maybe change out the back windows for drop downs and outside access to the interior compartments?
love this.. especially the trunk doors. As a tall guy (6'7") I hate normal vertical opening trunks. Hit my head so many times!!

Could you provide a link to the battery isolator as it seems like just the right one?
You guys do good work. No back seat is kind of a deal breaker for me personally, but still nice build.
Great build, as always. Where do you source your mattresses?
yo eyes are makin me go into a trance there is one dot on the center of it thats cool
Does the 88 Suburban have the same aluminum transfer case as the 88 K5 Blazer. Had one of those, liked it but had to replace the transfer case three times.
Félicitations ❤❤❤, on adore l’Amérique
Really nice! Who makes the mattress cover?
Looks good. I would probably tint the windows tho.
Sweet. How do you like the KYB's?

Was wondering if u remember the brand and style of the roof rack and mounts looking to add one on to my burb but haven’t found one I like yet I noticed yours didn’t drill in to the cab ?

Ditto.
What is the tire cost to replace them at some point. I really hope you get on your waiting list!
Why do y'all not use a full roof rack to utilize storage on the top and instead of little piece of a roof rack? I have a full size roof rack on mine with a solar shower line inside all the way around the roof rack. Solar panel on the front of the roof rack with storage in the center.
Beautiful! What size lift?
Have you got like a privacy curtain that wraps around the front.. other than that I like it like the idea it looks good
How did you do your solar shower?
Glad I landed here.... Just picked up an '88 Burd with less than 50k. Clean frame with min body rust (Montana). 5.9 with... wait for it, the manual with the creeper gear. Wondering how going with the 255 vs the 235 effected driving or mpg? Im mostly going to be using this Oct-May with our long winter.
@suboverland

255 is a good size and doesn't affect much.
@4himsanctified

@@suboverland the stock 235's are on order with Walmart and the rims (tires manually removed by me... that was a manly experience) are being sandblasted and powder coated (stock white).
Would you ever consider a build out on a Chrysler Pacifica mini van(San Model)?

We don't offer that kind of build at this time
We have a 1994 k1500 350. I've been thinking about building it out as an overlanding Towed/ Dinghy for our skoolie adventures. Our bus is a rear engine monster 8.3 turbo. The k1500 still runs well, but the frame is rustier than I'd prefer. Do you know where to get a good solid frame to do a full restoration? We're in Western PA. I'd honestly rather not do that much welding... Your design is a sweet one for overlanding. Very nice!

We only deal with rusty free vehicles and maybe could find you one👍
Do you sell cabinet plans for the diy folks?
Nice Suburban! What kind of wheels? And size?
How much do you charge to get this done
Nice! Just got an '87 K20 from Texas out here on Kauai and been thinking about how to convert it into a beach camper. Came with a lift and good tires and the engine is bone stock, which is perfect since I don't have to go over it all fixing mistakes. I'm a mechanic though and not a carpenter, so my ideas for the interior were, well... stupid. Now that I've seen how nice, clean and simple you're build is, I'm following your example here. Did you start with planning to take out the back seat? I'd like to keep the 60/40 split bench in but maybe take out the /40 side and have a standing mini fridge there. I'm not too worried about power as I have 3 batteries and a couple generators I can play with. Just wondering if the few inches the backrest takes up hinders anything.

You can keep the second row for sure. A lot of our clients go for that option.
I built out my suburban ...not this good but only suggestion is tables tops that fold off the back door
Viewing your KZread video, everything looks great. I have a 2007 1500 suburban 4x4 with a new engine install. I want to convert it to a RV. . I do a lots of camping/ fishing along the coast. Wanting to save some money and use what I have on hand. Can you help me with a solution?

I think this build was 255/85r16
I’m wondering if you could do this build and move the electrical and cooler and leave the middle seat in for kids to be able to ride
@suboverland
3 жыл бұрын
Yes we can go that 👍
Why doesn't #suboverland use/install a dedicated aux battery with an inverter instead of the battery pack solution? I and asking because I have a stock 1979 GMC K20 that I want to do weekend camping with this summer. I am in the process of doing research and weighing my options. Thanks!
been binging your videos and love the product... but the cable management...
Throttle body is carburetor fuel injection? Right?
What is the cost for just the inside buildout and the solar and batteries setup included? To include fridge also.
@suboverland

It would run around $10,000.
What can you do with a 2001 yukon xl

We do very similar builds to the newer models. I have a couple video tours on KZread.
If you full time live in something like this what do you do for your vehicle insurance/registration/license address?

Get a post office box and you can forward your mail from there to wherever you plan to go. Well, to a nearby post office anyway! There’s a delay caused by the forwarding of course but you just have to plan ahead.
Ok so my question is this: On these older Suburbans that have the Barn Doors on the rear of the SUV, can they be opened up from the inside of the SUV, or does one have to be at the back of the rig to open the barn doors from the outside ?
