From most of the comments left on downloads pertaining to HK, I would say that an overwhelming majority do. I remember at the handover, how hundreds of thousands of Chinese sang "God Save the Queen" as the last flag came down, and at Government House, there was a display of emotion there - and many of the attendees openly wept there. The worse part is than many Hong Kong citizens felt betrayed by The Crown.

+ProMonarchyGenius You're correct. the Hong Kong Island itself was in fact, ceded to the British Empire. Majority of mainland Chinese scholars argues that the 1842 Nanking Treaty can be voided under contract law based on duress. I disagree. In international treaties, duress was not a valid defense then and it is still not a valid defense now. I am sure Her Majesty is aware of that. Currently all official records clearly shows that Deng threatened military occupation during the 1982 talks. In fact, I believe Deng's words were "I could walk in and take the whole lot this afternoon", verbatim. Again, a good example that duress defense does not work in international treaties. Another principal in the English common law is adverse possession, permitting the taking of property by force and placing a claim, which would justify a military occupation anyhow... Under Adverse Possession, you can take over the whole planet by brute force as long as no one can stand up to oppose you, which justifies the founding of the Empire. This is still valid property law in the common law realm. Her Ladyship (Thatcher) made the the obvious choice for the well-being of the people in Hong Kong. HL also did the UK a service by a peaceful transfer. A war against 6 million mechanized troops with ICBM-enabled nuclear capability is unwinnable, unwise, and unnecessary for the Empire (Yes, I still call UK "the Empire" out of endearment). Trust me, if HL can, HL would have done. Remember the Falklands? She did the best she can to ensure the people of Hong Kong are cared for. May her soul rest in peace...

Don't be silly, the United Kingdom is no longer the empire on which sun never sets, the modern UK is much weaker than China, and China is one of their biggest trade partners, so the British won't try to regain Hong Kong. Also, without the support from communist China, Hong Kong won't survive from financial crisis and economic depression in 1997, 2003 and 2008.

oh no I'm not trying to start an international incident it was just a coincidence, the first time I actually heard this was when I was looking up a BBC closedown, cause I'm a sucker for TV closedowns, and I heard this song I automatically reconized it as My Country Tis of Thee, or what you call it God save the Queen.
