God, the memories...just seeing that CBS Special Presentation intro...wow.
I really miss the 80's
I was 11. Probably watched this too. The doublemint twins, the magical santas, those calming voice overs in every commercial. I miss that "feeling" we had back then, when everything was meant to calm and soothe and reassure you. That's missing in everything today. I remember in the early 2000s talking to my grandmother about this; how commercials were getting louder and meaner. I missed when things were lighthearted and sweet. I don't think those times can ever return.
It's funny, watching the Extra commercial and not seeing the commercial in over 20 years, I'm suddenly singing the jingle word-for-word and bobbing my head to the beat. It's kinda strange watching these old commercials, as you think after all these years you forgot a lot of them, then you watch them again and the door to those memories flies open and you are singing jingles and quoting commericals line by line with flawless precision.
Thank you for posting. I remember alot of these Christmas commercials. Use to love watching Christmas commercials in the 80's. Especially on Saturday mornings during the cartoons. The Oreo Santa commercial almost brings a tear to my eye. I remember trying to sing the little song. The 80's were a great time being a kid.
And I'd take 1987 and the entire 80's over the current world any day.
Wish they still showed Claymation Christmas.
Best commercials are from the 80s like i have always said. Thank you for posting.
Most commercials today, they call it holiday and not Christmas.

Its become a pagan holiday in the USA.
The McDonalds commercial was bright and worry-free! The Taster's Choice commercial was smooth and funky/jazzy!

Back when McDonalds catered to kids unlike today.
I have this entire set of commercials PLUS Rudolph all on tape. My parents must have taped it in 1987!
Why cant commercials be this fun nowadays? There all depressing today.
wow, very rarely do you see 1980s Target commercials!
I had no idea Target was around in the 80's. I only had Kmart and Bradlees.
It IS! She did several spots and Ads in the 80s!
So true Richard. I agree.
OMG!! I feel like I'm a teenager again.
I was 6 years old that year
I remember eating those fruit snacks. They were yummy.
I watch these commercials and remember much better times, before the F’n Chinese jacked up the world with COVID-19. The day the time machine is invented I’ll be first in line to go back. Great memories watching these, thanks for putting the video together! 👍😀
I remember the crayola commercial.
this brings back memories when I used to live in California when I was a kid
Shows how simple we were back then.
This was aired on then-CBS affiliate KXTV channel 10 in Sacramento, California.
Omg! I'd give anything to be 13 again back in 1987! Much simpler times. no we didn't have cell phones and a lot of the technology we have today, but we had imagination, kids were allowed to be kids, we actually went outside and played. Yes we did have some technology, even video games like nintendo, atari, etc, and only doctors and lawyers/people with lots of money had cell phones. No internet either.

I did also on Dec. 17.
Even though '87 was aired with the "Rudolph" Commercials, I can't get over some of the commercials that were the same in the Year 2048 - to the Year 9000. Even something like this was around in 1989 that had to do with a 1 time thing of 2047 or 8. Even if people have an eye that sees things differently, Reality wise!!.... Hoarders man!!!
ohh 1987
Haines Underwear Lmao!!! haha so funny
Is that Kirsten Dunst at 6:22????
It's from KXTV 10 (now ABC) from Sacramento.
Santa and Ronald display some unsettling Jedi/Sith powers here. But it's great to remember back when it was Bill Cosby making horrible, terrible career decisions instead of Eddie Murphy.
nice..thanks for posting. Cool to see Allison Smith in there..always thought she was hot.
Do you have The Gap's "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" commercial featuring a father holding his daughter (filmed in black and white)? 🎄🤞
I was born in 1986.
2:42 Oh God, I wanted that 7up Santa poster soooooooooo bad as a kid! Is Cherry 7up even made now?

because the 2000's suck. ;) The 80's and early 90's had the most amazing, cozy, out of this world imaginative commercials period. I remember dozens and dozens from the late 80's early 90's. Nowadays, everything is depressing like you pointed out, void of any creativity. it's drab, colorless, overly serious soccer mom 'office' bull shit. WTF happened?
haha doublemint looks like two gay guys and two lesbians... not hating.. gay here but hilarious !!
Pre Islamic Britain!!
