1987 BMW 325is Coupe (E30) Review, walkaround, in-depth tour, and test drive
Long before BMWs are known to be comfortable luxurious sedans and coupes, they were their slogan: Ultimate Driving Machines that give its drivers Sheer Driving Pleasure. In the early 1980s, BMW launched their 2nd generation 3 Series E30 body consisting of your regular sedans and coupes that were later followed by the first iteration of today's legendary BMW M3/M4 sport sedan/coupe.
Starting out as a regular-specced red coloured 320i coupe with an automatic transmission, this example right here had humble beginnings. It was then restored and built up to be the car it is today using the engine and transmission from a manual 5 Series E34 525i, and parts found in the catalogue build of what was the equivalent of today's "M Sport" package called the "M Tech I," thereby effectively/arguably making this a 325is.

Why haven't I seen this video earlier. The sturdiness of an e30: crashed a post. Felt the sturdiness & safety features come to play - the seat & belt hugged me, it ricocheted back & spun BUT it was so solid - no vibrations. Felt like a carnival ride. When it rested, the damage was limited to the bumper. The "kidneys" fell off, so I picked it up fully intact. When my mechanic saw it, he weakened as he said: to break that steel bumper, you were doing 120kph on impact. BTW, I still have it, changed the transmission and differential. I no longer take it on long drives but she still runs well. Clutch is murder on my left leg though 😂
I use to have a 1988 325is manual, and I loved it.
This was when BMW used to take building cars very seriously and passionately. An over engineered car in my opinion. Love the E30s. Great review. Cheers

One of the most iconic BMWs ever made. It is amazing how good this car is to drive today. Despite ceasing production in the early nineties. You have to hand it to the Germans in terms of build quality and driving dynamics. Still waiting for a Mercedes w123, w115 or w116 review :)

You said it about the 4 Series, I will call it buck toothed. Ideally this is my Dream BMW with a 5 speed transmission. I would love to have this, but this car is getting up there in price. I would also like the Z3 in a I6 5 speed transmission.

Yeah it's time to get one now while they haven't skyrocketed yet. I think they will only go up even more in price over time

Wait a minute. I thought BMW began sales in the Philippines in 1993, but how can this classic 3-Series be in the Philippines as a 1980s 3-Series? The only German luxury car brand sold in the Philippines throughout the Cold War was Mercedes-Benz since the 1950s. BMW wasn't available in the Philippines during the Cold War because it doesn't have enough demands to sell them there at that time.
kyle enjoyed your video. im finishing up a resto of same car here in Midwest USA. i was wondering what color to paint mine, and what decals. YOURS is gorgeous - exactly how the racy IS should look. but, behind front fenders you have 2 side markers... yours are mounted oon the wrong sides... you should consider swapping them right and left... their leading edge should follow the wheel opening arch. and get that speedo fixed! cheers doc V

Hi Michael, glad you enjoyed the video. Sad to say that this car is not mine, and I merely made a feature on it because of how gorgeous it is. Either way, wish you the best with your restoration.

For the inexperienced driver, this car can easily tailspin on a curve road on wet surface~rear wheel drive n too much torque. Ease of the throttle there n point the steering to direction of path. Be safe.
