Peter Lustig (= "Peter Funny" - that was his real name!) visited the radio in 1987 for the 66th edition of the children's television series "Löwenzahn" (= dandelion). In addition to some editorial rooms, the recordings show above all the completely analogue radio technology of the time at public broadcasters in Germany. Huge amounts of tapes and tape machines, above all STUDER A81, were the state of the art at the time.
The STUDER A81 is a machine of the "A80 RT" type, but with the reverse (= German) layer position. It came onto the market in 1976. For this it was necessary to rebuild the complete headblock with all related changes in the tape run or to build it differently. Also, some changes have been made for a better editing technique. The A81 was specially developed for the German market and was primarily used by the public ARD broadcasters as an alternative model for the Telefunken M15 A machines used almost exclusively there.
The recordings were made in the broadcasting center of the former SFB (Sender Freies Berlin). Today the RBB (Rundfunk Berlin Brandenburg) broadcasts from the "House of Broadcasting" on Masurenallee in Berlin.
