One of the nice things about NASCAR broadcasting back then for me was getting alot of different viewpoints from wide array of commentators instead of the nbc team of guys who sound alike

As they mentioned, this was the first race after Neil Bonnett's bad wreck at Charlotte. He missed the last three races of '87, but to start '88, he finished fourth in the Daytona 500, then won at Richmond and Rockingham, as well as winning the race in Australia. It's a shame that his career was hampered by injuries from about 1986 on...and more of a shame that he was taken before his time (26 years ago today).

If there had only been safer barriers 2001 and Earnhardt wearing a Hans device maybe Dale would still be with us guiding his team as an owner these days.

Didn't you love the cheers and screams when Earnhardt crashed! Reminded me of Harvick at the Roval this year. Let the siron blast.

Would have been nice if Cup returned to Rockingham. If not for the Ferko Suit, none of this would have happened. Same thing with North Wilkesboro. Nowadays, it's all cookie-cutter race tracks.

It’s a shame that they don’t race at the good tracks. Nobody’s wants to see a leader pull away and have no cars in front to deal with. MAKE RACING GREAT AGAIN

I don’t know the sources other than what I found on YT, word round the campfire NASCAR is coming back to Wilksboro , like I said I haven’t heard anything official from NASCAR about it, only from my sources on YT. I can’t remember if it was Brock beard, Slapshoes or some variation but someone on here did a story about NASCAR & wilksboro being a reality again.

I miss going to the "The Rock"......use to go to both races every year. Another major mistake made by NASCAR when they left. Screwed the fans that made them what they were. Just look at it today.......Damn Joke!!!

Audiences at the track dwindled and the facilities weren't upgraded at all to suit the bigger fields.
