2 great announcers!! Remember watching this as a kid on weekends!!
4/19/2024: I love watching all the PBA matches of yesteryear. Especially those featuring Pete Weber. My GOAT!!!❤
ABC Sports was so great back in the 80’s
Great matches, great announcing, all around top notch(it could not have been the last ABC show- no way).Every competitor was fiery. I had forgotten that Marshall Holman had won a second Firestone. Thanks for posting!
I didn't realize until now that this Tournament of champions happened on the exact same day as the Chernobyl Nuclear disaster in the USSR on April 26 1986

Wow...never realized that either. Crazy.
I didn't realize that this was the last PBA broadcast by ABC-TV. I remember when bowling used to beat golf in the TV ratings by a mile. Today here in Dayton, Ohio, the local newspaper(s) puts nothing in it's sports pages about PBA tournament results. NOTHING. Thanks to the METRO BOWLER for uploading!

Actually, the last PBA telecast on ABC-TV was the 1997 St. Clair Classic.

This was not the last telecast by ABC Sports of the Pro Bowlers Tour. This show was at the end of the 25th year of broadcast.

+StFidjnr The 1991 Firestone Tournament of Champions might be a hard one to find because there was a 40 minute delay to the start of the telecast due to a crank caller phoning in a bomb threat to the bowling alley the tournament was held that day.

***** but the tune of the list of the 52 bowler field is unbelievable I've can't name it
i just got to love it when Baker in the 10th gives up and goes to Holman and a says "sure"
1:24 - The ABC Sports logo looks like the ABC News logo.
back in the good ol days when you could buy a pack of cigarettes and pitcher of beer right at the bowling alley and throw one back with a few friends
this was not the last telecast, the last telecast happened in the 90's
Look at how classy the whole production looks. The players are neatly attired and don't look like sideshow clowns in shirts designed by a sixth grade class. No flashing lights and other stupid gimmicks like blue oil. Audience are well dressed, classy and make good noise supporting the players. Commentary is knowledgable and understated. No stupid "hambone" and "Bo Derek" calls by commentators trying to make themselves more important. None of those ugly masking units and no spectators, usually slobbily dressed, right next to the approaches.

Was just watching that sideshow on FS1. It brought me here to see a real professional tournament..

Rob Stone wouldn't make a scab off of Chris Schenkels wrinkled ass. He's absolutely the one who makes today's bowling bad. His WWF delivery is the worst.
to live for the Bo Burton Tip of the Week.

Bowling was one of the most popular participation sports at the time, so those tips had their purpose to us.
Was holman smoking a cigarette at the foul line? Now that's BOWLING that I remember.

I AGREE with you 1,000%. Like the NFL, NBA, MLB & MLS the bowling is now CRAP too & isn't worth watching anymore either. LOVE YOUR COMMENT.
Mike Aulby had no luck at all on alleys 27&28.
Surprised to see that coat and tie were mandatory in 1986. Appreciate the discipline of the audience, as opposed to the obnoxious trash you see nowadays.
