1986 Lotus Esprit Turbo - full leather restoration

This eye-catching Lotus Esprit Turbo came in for restoration of all the leather. The leather had been overpainted at some point and was the wrong colour, badly cracked and worn. Each and every piece was painstakingly restored using the professional restoration process (detailed on my website).
The dash and instrument binnacles on these cars are particularly challenging, however the existing leather responded well to restoration techniques and the end result was stunning.
What a beautiful interior to sit in and a wonderful car to drive too/

That is THE BEST restoration I've seen on an Esprit. Nobody -- and I mean NOBODY -- gets these right. Great job.

out of interest, what is so complex about this that everyobody else gets wrong?

@@jaap5398 A couple of things. First, restorers almost never use the correct Connolly leather, with the correct texture and color. And second the fitment is always off. All of the wrinkles and folds you see are deliberate and unique to the Esprit from the factory. Most restorers don't get that right at all, this shop clearly did. Part of the reason is that these cars were never really valuable enough to justify high-dollar interior restorations, so they went to restorers who weren't entirely qualified. Now they're appreciating rapidly so I guess we'll see better restorations in the future.

Hi many thanks. I don’t use any new leather I’m a specialist restorer that restores the coatings on the existing leather. Keeps originality and patina whilst making the interior as near to new as it will get. Regards

@@LeatherRestorationLtd isn’t the trouble with these kind of coatings that the leather is will not absorb leather feed afterwards, as the coating effectively seals off the leather? And, the coating wears more quickly than the original colouring? That’s been my experience but I appreciate your thoughts!
