My Dad bought this guitar around 2019. I’ve seen his comment somewhere in this thread he bought this exact guitar although his comment says he bought it from someone in Liverpool. literally have it on my knee as I’m writing this. He sadly passed away in April 2022 and so I have inherited it. It is a beautiful example of a classic 80s metal guitar. Growing up in the 80s I learned to play on a charvel 4. This guitar is just magnificent!

I had the model 3 in white pearl metallic from about 87-88, it was $650 new, played amazingly smooth, licensed Floyd Rose Jackson trem. and Jackson J-90 HB with black EMG style covers and two S.coil's, satin neck, rosewood fretboard, dot inlay (made from shark tooth) always stayed in tune even doing the Jack Butler whammy bar shake...lol, the metallic had a hint of blue to it, wish I still had it.

I own one plum colour myself. Bought it on eBay like 16 years ago for $499. I upgraded it with many parts from floyroseugrades with a Takeuchi TRS-101 bridge Set a 18V circuitery with EMG's and installed an EVH D-TUNA to get to drop-D real quick. Those guitars are killing it!

The paint was called 'Ferrari Red'. I own two original 1987 Model 6's, both unmodified. One a 'Cobalt Blue' (bought new in '87), the other 'Ferrari Red' (bought from eBay in 2002), both with the Floyd Rose licensed tremolo locking system, and original chainsaw cases. Will never sell them!

I just got myself a Model 6 from 1987 and I have to say mine is even better looking than this one! original pickups and floyd trem on mine. In fact its 100% original! Also Ferrari Red. I don't know how much this guitar sold for but it was a steal any way you look at it. The Charvel "Model" series began in 1986 and ran through 1988. All of the serial numbers began with a "C" followed by a 6 digit number. The first number represents the last number of the production year. In this case it is a 6, meaning 1986. The following numbers of 00050 mean that this guitar was #50 off the production line in 1986. I own this exact guitar with only two differences. On mine the pickup selection switches are black instead of silver and still has the original pickups. Serial #C601999

This could have been made in 1985 and shipped very early 1986. The model 6 I had ,was fitted with a Jackson version of the Floyd Rose which had very brittle knife edges, so I fitted a Schaller made Floyd, with the hardend steel pivot screws the tuning was rock solid even though it had the behind the nut string lock. This was in late 1986 or very early 1987. The pickups were Jackson's own brand. The rear control knob was a parametric EQ,the middle one a master tone and the volume was nearest the bridge humbucker.

Cool guitar...let me know when you want to sell it. This guitar went "missing" when I shipped it to a very disappointed buyer in Israel who never got it. The guitar magically shows up at the Cash Converters pawn shop in Brighton where the guy said he bought it at the "lost in the post" auction for pennies. Apparently this Liverpool guy bought it from him. The guitar originally belonged to Rob Logan in Cambridge who runs the Jackson Made In USA page on Facebook

I have the white one with Kahler but without sharkfin. I'm looking to replace the bridge though because it's a bit rusty and it's gnawing away at mij strings because the rollers on the saddle are somewhat corroded and because of that have some sharp edges I think. I think it's a Kahler 2300 pro. Is there any new bridge I can replace it with without having to drill or do routing work?

I just bought a Japanese model 6 in white for £499 which included the hard case. The body has one large chip and some smaller chips on it. But I'm going to get it restored. Its missing a trem arm for the Floyd so I'm going to need one of those. I'm lucky in that there are some good guitar luthiers in my city and one just happens to be the guy who works on Mark Knopfler's guitars though I have no idea how much the repair is going to cost.

Hey dude thanks for watching! To answer your question, no it's pretty high volume here and people tend to change the strings, tuning and action to their liking anyway. That plus most of my guitars are shipped to the other side of the planet with the tension relieved on the neck to prevent any headstock snaps, so in general it's good to do a setup anyway when you get it.

Quality is going through the roof for the money. What rock have you been living under ??? Indonesia, Korea, Mexico has been putting out quality. A lot of that 80s and ninety's gear was over rated, overpriced and grossly underperformed. Modern guitars seem to have better frets and setups. Even cheap guitars are great platforms.A lot of cheap guitars in the 80 and 90s weren't even solid wood or tone wood.

It is a generalization to be sure, but these guitars when in the hands of working or dedicated players seem to have significant wear and battle scars. I have 2 guitars I have owned for over 30 years, and as careful as I have been with them they have their share of dings and bangs. As a working guitarist I found it incredibly difficult to keep these fiddles in perfect shape. Not for lack of trying either. Guitars that stay in their case tend to look like this example. As has been my experience.
