Blitz Sports Network PSA: Always remember, the individuals who say "Michael Jordan didn't face great competition in his era" are trying to tell you something IMPORTANT. They are trying to tell you that they didn't watch the Michael Jordan era, and there are much better things you could be doing with your time rather than listening to their takes on an era they didn't even watch. Would you go to someone for an opinion on Shakespeare if they had never seen the plays Macbeth, Hamlet, or Othello? Of course you wouldn't. Consider the source. Nobody who watched that era would trash the talent all around the league. Michael Jordan played in a great era with a great blend of fierce competitors, awe inspiring athletes, lock down defenders, knock down shooters, and ultra skilled ballers.

So this is not MJ after 6 championships, but already at that point he was a star able to make an impact not only on his team but impress other teams fans, really there is noone like him!!
That’s crazy how the commentators said he was going to play 15yrs in the league…they spoke that into existence

Well there are a few guys but only a FEW that could claim that. Bird and Magic for a few years were what I would call the greatest initiators in the game, Dr. J was great doesnt get as much recognition since half his career was in the ABA. I dont really add the classic centers Russell, Chamberlain or Jabbar they racked up points before the league expanded and had the influx of new talent and ABA players and you clearly see their numbers drop when that happened. So yeah for me its Jordan, Magic, Bird and Dr. J in that order and they all won at least one championship in the hardest era of basketball. And Dr. J had two ABA championships before he joined the NBA.

Jordan said he did not focus on the three point shot because he did not want to be sitting on the 3 point line waiting for his team mates to find him. Exactly no-one wanted to see his athletic artistry go to waste sitting around waiting for someone to toss him the rock for a three.
The commentator was prophetic when he said we will see a lot of that in his 15years. That was prophetic as Jordan will finally retire for a second time in 1999 15 years after he started playing and had retired for the first time
I regret not watching more of him. I haven’t watched a game since he retired. It just don’t get any better then that.

Heck… I watched Jordan in college… (and subsequently in the ‘84 Olympics) so I was convinced then. Also his first game in the Garden as a Bull inspired the famous Sports Illustrated cover “A Star is Born” photographed in the Garden and during that road trip (I believe it was the next morning- )he appeared on the TODAY show interviewed by Bryant Gumbel who pointed out the incredible size of Jordan’s hands, a la, Dr.J - which obviously gave him the great control he had with the ball in the air! The first time I saw Jordan play in person was in an exhibition game at the old Richmond Coliseum (Virginia) - October 1988 - he was like a lightning quick cat powered by rockets- stunningly spectacular and unreal!!🙏🏿🌅☝🏾❤️👍🏾✊🏾🏀

Leflop isn't even close. He's a stat chaser who has played for an extremely long time. Not saying he isn't great,he's one of the best in the modern game. But if you put MJ in this no touch league he'd easily score 40pts a game without trying. Can you imagine the stars of the 80s and 90s playing in this can't touch him era? There's about a dozen who could average 40.

Ummm...no. Bird and Magic revitalized the NBA beginning in 1979-80. Michael Jordan was a rookie supernova in 1984-85 following the legendary 7 game 1984 Finals between the Celtics and the Lakers (a rematch of the 1979 NCAA Championship Game). The NBA was in a GREAT position in terms of quality basketball and fan interest in 1984. With that said, MJ definitely took the NBA by storm and was must see TV whenever he played. He was clearly the future (1990s) and helped the NBA reach its greatest heights that haven't been seen since.

Jordan lead the NCAA Atlantic Coast Conference in 3-point percentage, but so many people were critical of his shooting range when he entered the league!? WTF? People have to be assholes and find some imaginary fault with rookie stars. Claiming Jordan didn't play D, then saying he ha a lousy outside shot. Absolute BULLSHIT! (Still to this day, some people claim MJ cannot shoot. Former Kings PG Jason Williams spoke basketball blasphemy about MJ recently, insulting him about his shooting.) Anyway, they did that shit to Iverson in his rookie year, claiming he made too many turnovers, but his turnovers per game was almost the same as other perennial all-stars at the time. (Couldn't find a fault with Iverson, then when turnover allegations were refuted, they claimed he SHOT too much for a PG. He shot too much because he was the most proficient shooter and scorer on his team. Above Stackhouse, Weatherspoon and USA baller Derrick Coleman.)

Crazy! He had already hit a 37 point and 33 point game after 7 games played? Amazing. I say that as someone that grew up during this time and was a Bulls fan.
New York cheered for him so much and did you hear the announcers naming all the stars that attended the game that night? Real recognize real. But Jordan was so amazing to watch. I was born in 81 but anytime the bulls game was on TV in the 90’s I had my little hoop up that connected to the top of my bedroom door watching Jordan and imitating his moves breaking my door a few times in the process. Those where the best times I can remember.
At this early stage he looked like a veteran amazing.
For only his 7th game he already shows he's the leader of the team and on the court. Those first days were some of my favorite
I would like to have a clip of the announcer saying how different the bulls team look because of Michael Jordan. That a rookie is making a team of coke head veterans play better. I need it for the LBJ nuthuggers/MJ haters on Facebook
