    I remember this fire. I was living Uptown and hopped a bus to catch a glimpse of the fire. The bus was packed with young people all going to the fire. That was the year Donaldson's burned to the ground and Macy's came to town. They should have let the fire spread to Hennepin Ave; just kidding.

    I had no idea this happened. I was born in September of 1982 and grew up in St. Louis Park, just one town west of Minneapolis. I also had a grandmother living in the Nicollet Towers apartment building just down Nicollet Avenue, so I'm a bit surprised my parents never brought this up when I was younger. That must've been pretty concerning for them at the time.

    In December of 1982 I was 8 years old. I had just got to the United States I came from Bogota Colombia
