A lesson on how to play six-tackle rugby. Australia adapted to this rule change much quicker than GB. David Ward opting to run the ball himself towards four defenders on the last tackle then being caught in possession! Imagine how a coach would react to that now!

32500 here for this match - i queued for over an hour outside to get one of the last tickets and watched it from the back of the stand opposite the cameras, so many in you couldn't see the whole game. Hull FC v Hull KR matches at this ground pulled up to 25000, but Hull City at the time got 3 to 4 thousand for most games.

That’s a pretty solid Kangaroos team. Silky Steve Rogers, what a player. Brett Kenny putting King Wally on the bench. Les Boyd for a bit of intimidation. Price and Pearce for workload...and then of course Big Mal Meninga in the first of his record setting 4 Kangaroo tours.

Wally wasn't even the Kangaroos reserve back in this game. The Aussie bench was Steve Ella and John Muggleton. Both were replaced by Lewis and Ray Brown for the 2nd and 3rd tests.
