    My father bought that exact sled in 1980, And 3 years later a Black 9700 Blizzard. WE still have them both today :)

    Listen to that Rotax 440 crackle...love it! My family owned a dealership back then and buyers would complain that the 9500 wasn't fast enough. Bombardier directed us to double up the base gaskets and plane the head to change port timing / compression a bit and then they flew.

    I remember hearing sleds go by my house when I was a kid, I wanted one so bad.

    That is a beautiful sled! I would never sell that. I'm going to be restoring my dad's old 79' 9500 but it definitely won't be as perfect as this. These are really cool sleds not to mention fast! Gotta love the sound of those factory twin pipes too.

    Super nice. But the fastest sled in 1980 would be a toss up between the Cat 6000 and the Centurion.

    i remember in 1981 or 82 they were giving these and the 7500 and the motoski versions away in crates for 1500.00 bucks for the 7500 and 1800.00 for the 9500 1979 and 1980s models my friends older brother bought the 9500 at the time my friend had a 1974 400 FA so he was not going to let big brother beat him so he went back and got the motoski with the same exact setup after they updated them with new head gaskets and jetting and something else time to ride i had a 1972 440 tnt that belong to his brother so i rode that and barely saw them just a speck going by one black and one orange and black

    I had a 1979 9500+ Air box had a force fed cold air tube. Not that big screen thing sucking from behind wind screen. Mine ran 95 mph at 9500 funny how that worked out..

    Fast for their day but they had no suspension to speak of. Pretty much lake racers.

    Had a Motoski Ultrasonic the brother to the 9700. People bitched because the track wasn't cleated but it's pretty obvious why it wasn't from the factory.

    What's the top speed of the 1980 9500

  • @goudrelle1
    @goudrelle15 жыл бұрын

    The first 9500+ from 1979 was a faster snowmobile than the 1980, not the same specs....They were easy to modify also....The rotary valve needed to have the same setting has the 79 7500+ same for the clutch, brown spring and the A3 arms and cam...The blizzard would run faster and smoother with these specs......

  • @goudrelle1
    @goudrelle14 жыл бұрын

    The 440 engine were performing better and stronger by having the 79 7500 rotary valve specs put in.....

    Yamaha srx was faster.

  • @GearheadRob319

    @GearheadRob319

    4 жыл бұрын

    That's because the srx would hook up better. It had a aluminum bellypan. The ski doo would spin the track forever, and had a metal bellypan. Weight distribution was terrible.

  • @chargerfish1

    @@GearheadRob319they should have put aluminum bellies on the blizzards, fuckin things would be untouchable. The skis wouldn't dig in near as much, allowing that 80+ hp motor to deliver all its power into pure acceleration and speed! Musta kept it steel to keep the front end on the ground 🤣
