1980 Blizzard 9500 Plus
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Little tribute I put together for my Blizzard 9500 Plus. I remember these machines and the fun from that era when I was a kid, and finally found a decent one when I was older. I'm selling it, so I thought I'd put what little clips I had together for the memory. Cheers'

I remember in the early 90s everyone drove a machine like this (I was in an isolated native American village) but not so much now. I still use my 1989 skidoo cheyenne 95450 miles. Grate snowmacine. You can't beat skidoo
Proud owner of a 9500. Plenty of top speed lake runs on that sled sure made me smile. It was my first machine man I was hooked on that Rotax twin. Crazy noise made every forest animal run for miles.
Truly the best picture of a racing seat ever,,..............
Aw the memories :) My father bought the exact same sled. And later in the 80's bought a 9700 skidoo blizzard as well. We still have those machines today :) Cheers for posting :)

I came across a Blizzard 9500mx ... it was 1 of only 12 or 15 made.... it had the 5500 mx front and rear suspension with the 9500 liquid cooled rotax in it.

thx, damn those 9700 must have been lightning fast.
I had one just like it. Back then it was one of the fastest sleds on the snow. After the blizzard I went to the Formula. Another awesome sled. Then too the Z
It is just amazing to see such epic super sleds gas tanks in a video.. just amazing !!
i got an 81 blozzard with 7500 chassis but the 9500 motor..runs like a beast..and with all the miles she has on her she still gets up to 100 very reliable machine..and fast for such an old one
'78 340 RV, doing skis off the ground, all the time!! Remember them too!! Wicked!!
I had a 79 blizzard 9500, ran it with 2 bored 38mm mikuni at 39.5, stock exaust, 7500 cluch set up with a brown spring and also the 79 7500 rotary valve set up, that snowmobile was a rocket !!!! TNX for the vid, it gives me nice memories !!!
Had one of these fast sled.
Definitely one of my favorites growing up
Bombardier, Bombardier, Bombardier ! What an inventor !
i had one back in the 80s, only sled i went 100 mph on, scared the crap out of me.
@cklink69 For 1980, 95-100 was a fast sled---especially for a 440. Ski-Doo really had that motor tuned for speed...
I had a 79 9500. It had the Rotax Model 454 engine. They were different from later Rotax engines in that they had 6 bearings on the crank, two on each outboard end, and two in the middle on either side of the rotary valve gear. I had it bored 20 over with Wisco pistons. It ran very hot, and would rev into the 9-10,000 range, and do over 100mph. Was quite a sled, I traded it for an 87 Indy 600, which was a fast sled, but would never touch the Blizzard.
Bombardier made 12 Blizzard 9500 MX sleds, extremely rare, but pretty cool. Last year of the 9500 before the 9700 came out. I saw one on Craigslist in Minnesota.
Gorgeous old classic. I have more respect for a guy riding a well-kept classic, than I do for someone who shells out $10,000 for the latest, greatest. It is really hard to believe that this will do 95-100 mph. That's crazy. It would hang with my 1998 Formula III 700 triple.
Back when enticer was the hottest and famous of them all! good ole race sleds and i gotta say this thing is cool!
I had an 84 9700. Could get 95 mph down the side of the highway. Fast enough to do major damage if you wrecked.
badass. i had the baby 5500.
@cklink69 thx for the video...loved my 5500...great reliable Rotax engines....wish mine was liquid not fan cooled but still moved nicely.....shitty suspensions...my buddy had the 5500 MX with lots of travel... that was unique back then....too bad the 5500 MX was the only blizzard with independant suspension.
i wish my blizzard was one of those... i would have kept it forever. mine was a 5500mx i loved it even though i never got it to run properly.
thats a nice blizzard you got! i love them! but yeh 1979 was the 1st year of the blizzard 9500 & 5500 and the 1980 9500's had yellow hoods! 81's had orange and 82 had black & yellow then 83 & 84 they switched to the 9700's with the 521 motors! those were bad-ass!

Yea , tell me about it I have about 20 posts out on every you-tube channel available for WANTED: A 1984 Ski-Doo 9700 Blizzard ---will pay upwards of 20K for one. I bought one brand new in '84 from a dealer in Iowa and had to sell 3 years later due to heart surgery - went to someone in a 100 mile radius of me, that's all I know. Please pass on info. A FINDERS FEE IS AGREEABLE TOO !!!!!!! Jim Kiesau
Had a 79 340 Everest. Good times.
Damn that sounds good, reminds me of the 80 Citation SS I used to have in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Mine had the separate coils that Robert speaks of (one for each side). Its like having two single cylinder engines sitting there side by side. The biggest pain in the butt about those older machines is the points and condesnsor system. I completely rebuilt my engine, used teflon coated pistons and all new bearings. Mine showed it to be going almost 100 mph. Could be a speedo issue but it was very fast. Scary fast ! I raced a Yamahe Phazer and although he got the jump on me I kept right up to him. He was shocked to see me right behind him the whole race. I think it was a 500cc (480). Thanks for the memories !
Good looking sled
@ Lucas Johnson: thats an original 1980 ad for the Blizzard 9500
@ohgrx i had a 80 5500...great Rotax engines but fan cooled, the 7500 and 9500 were liquid....then the 9700 replaced the 9500 and it was a 521 c/c liquid.
I owned a 79 9500 Plus. It was the first Liquid cooled Sled I bought. Actually, I traded a CB Radio for it. Not sure about the 1980 Sled but, the 79s came with the Bosch Ignition with the individual Coil/CDIs ( I believe the 78 Liquid Blizzard Race Sleds used them too) and then then they went to a Nippondenso single coil for the 440. The 340 in the 7500s also had the Bosch coils. While I never ran side by side with an 80 9500, a Buddy of mine who had an 80 drove my 79 once when his Sled was down for repairs and he told me the 79 had way more Balls than his did. Almost impossible to find those Bosch Coils now and Guys who do have them want a Fortune for the darn things but, they do/did work very well on that 440 Rotax. As for the 95-100 mph., that may be what was showing on the Speedo but, if you radared a 9500 with a light Rider, you might get 90-92 mph. best I ever got was 87 mph. on a really good gun. Just my 2 cents is all. They were a great Sled. Never left me stranded either. Oh a few times She limped home on only 1 cylinder but, she got me home.

cool story only ever had one snowmobile and it was an 88 ski-doo safari 377 had it probably 5-6 years lotsa fun but always being 25 35 below gets old fast i would buy one again but I would never buy new or pay thousands for one just dont get the use out of it and my area doesn't get the snow like it used to either... later
@ohgrx not too sure but i doubt it since the 5500 was a fan cooled and the 521 in the 9700 was liquid... but not toally sure dude.
Skidoo Blizzard.🏁
@bigborebruce oh so the 9700 was a bigger engine, thanks... i remember the 9700, still had bad suspension...they should have mad an MX for the 9500/9700 like they did for the 5500. Wonder if that MX suspension is compareable to today's suspensions...had lots of travel on the rear.
NICE freaking sled---and nice video. You don't see the '78-'83 Blizzards around much anymore. What did the 9500 have for top speed stock out of the crate? Could they hit 100mph?
@cklink69 what was the difference between the Blizzard 9500 and then the Blizzard 9700?
Nice 9500! I see you painted the bellypan black, actually looks pretty good. This 9500 is a 1980, 1981's were black/orange. Sounds so nice. Why did you sell?
I had one but I think it had the 501 fan ?
Where did you find the phrase at the beginning of the video?
@bigborebruce was the 97 that much better than the 9500? was the 5500 the only one that came as an MX with good suspension? wonder what today's rear suspension is like compared the 5500 MX rear of early 80's..... probably similar.
I just found out that the Blizzard 9700 with the 521cc liquid didn't have Oil Injection. Surprised me.
Hi there..A little late for asking but did you sell your Blizzard?? I love those Blizzards as well as the 79-80 Yamaha srx 440's

I blew mine twice. I think they were jetted like lean mean piston burnin machines.
i always hated the hadlebars on the Blizzards.....stupid design...should have been wider and straighter....but definately a fun sled to ride. also hated the primer sytem, choke is better.
