    The British team ran, something like, the 15th fastest time back then. If it had been run two years earlier, in 1978, it would have been the world record! That's why it was the British record for 30 years!

    Flat Speed? Well, americans had obviously a better flat speed in Seoul 88 with Ashford and Griffith and they couldnt run under 42 seconds beacuse their changes were a desaster. They trained a few days after the US trials. GDR team had an incredible chageover technique, obviously they treined toigether for a long time. Ah yes.. the last change between Auerswald and Görh...simply Superb! Difficult to see a better one...maybe themselves in Camberra 1985...

    Well it doesnt sound much better than 42.00 ;-) Anyway the US team had 3 finalist of tne 100m and Sheila Echols ran better than Moller in the first leg. However Evelyn Ashford was behind Göhr when she began to run, even though Griffith made the third leg...Who had better flat speed here?

  • @jhecht424
    @jhecht42416 жыл бұрын

    Yeah, obviously it was hard to tell because the GDR was in lane 8, but everything that I have read as well states that they had rather sloppy passing. Just goes to show you that if you have the speed, it can make up for a bad pass. It's about time for this Olympic record to fall. The US came oh so close in 1984, just missing it by .05.
