@@OriginalOldSkoolFunk Actually; Nope, STUPID IS VERY FITTING. My dad was an Owner Operator all of his working lifetime. My dad taught my brothers and I how diagnose ebngine and drivetrain problems and the repair and rebuilding of them, both diesel and gas engines. As well as having my own elecrical and electronics repair businesses, I also worked for CUMMINS and as an Engine and Transmission rebuilder. My experiences and training I believe more than qualifies me to state that "It's STUPID" as well as ILLEGAL in most if not all U.S. states, and it truly is very inconsiderate to residents nearby busy roads/highways/interstates many appartment buildings and senior housing is in these areas, and people who work nights sleep during the day so, DON'T BE UNNECESSARILY AND STUPIDLY LOUD!!! Period. Compression brakes are NOT intended or designed to be used all the time. In the long run it costs the owner of the truck more monies in premature repairs.
@OriginalOldSkoolFunk

@@brucedammann1068 Bruce... No argument from me. I have over 20 years over the road trucking and tour bus driving experience myself and my comment was you can actually save fuel by cutting those Jakes off and only using them in times when you really need them. I run with mine off most of the time and turn them on only when I'm pulling heavy and need to hold speed on a down grade or need some assistance when coming to a stop. I drove flatbeds for 11 years and my commission was partially based on my fuel consumption and idle time. As a rookie driver, I could only get my fuel economy down so low until an Old timer told me to cut the Jakes off and I went up 2/10th of a gallon. Made more money that way, because I wasn't burning as much fuel and I still was able to stop the truck when I needed to. Personally, I can't stand the loud Jake brakes. In Tennessee where I live, we call them Redneck jakes. I drive a 35-ton wrecker as a tow truck operator now and I have my mufflers installed on my truck and I'm really ok with that. I hate it when I have to park my wrecker and jump in one of our heavy haul trucks that don't have muffler brakes. I feel like a idiot every time I have to get off of the fuel and the thing starts popping and making all types of noise. I wish I could hide sitting in the cockpit so nobody would see that it was me making all that noise. My compliment to the driver was for how good his rig looks...not because of how it sounds when he steps off of the go pedal.

THANKYOU 💖 I'm a 52 yr old female, Definitely a daddys girl. Some of my best memories are driving with dad as a kid, he did east to west, north to south, (Australia) we have a rock from what is now the ord River dam when he carted out of there, livestock ( we had sheep and cattle dogs- lassie and tippy! Lassie was kelpie collie cross sweetheart, tippy was -seriously- a smelly old cantankerous #$%^) dads had several heart attacks, eyesight -and hearing gone and stopped driving around 10 yrs ago... the freedom convoys and clips like this nearly make me cry. Shiz wasn't perfect but I'm so grateful I had a great childhood with a strong, true, down to earth loving dad. They don't make many men like that anymore. 🥰🙏💝 edit: to add his rig was an Atkinson
Man, I cannot describe how beautiful your truck is. That is a beautiful ride!!! Wow!
That tarp job on point! Love the truck as well.

My goodness how can you not love this beautiful truck
I Was 17 in the seat 36 years later burnt out. But I might think twice if I were driving your truck. Beautiful.
What a beauty! Love that paint job. Too bad it's a bygone era, but happy to see people keep classics alive!
That 'ol kitty cat sure does purr like a kitten!
About 20 plus years ago when I was in high school I worked at a shop and I helped the owners son rebuild a 78 kw. Those were some long days. School, track practice, then work until 10 or 11 that truck was beautiful when we were done. I still hate air brake lines to this day
That a 1979?!? Wow, what a beautiful ride. Thanks for keeping it on the road and in what looks like absolutely perfect condition. And you still keep it a working truck. American muscle at it's best right there.
Those old Kenmores are the sweetest rides on the road. In my eyes.
Been a truck driver for over 35 years always wanted to push a rig like that probably never will

Absolutely beautiful truck. My much younger daughter loves it when her brother stops by and takes her for a ride. She likes his jake break and his horn. Train horn.
Nice!! Growing up in Oregon I heard LOTS of Jake brakes from the LOTS of log trucks we once had. That's a sweet KW, bud!
Sweet Beautiful Ride. Retired now, but this Ride makes me ache for another short trip. Thanks for sharing
Dang this is older than I am. And it's still beautiful.
Sweet Jake music. And a very nice classic Kenworth the same year as the cabover I worked outlaw with up to and back from New Jersey to Florida. When I was 15. God I miss those days. Lol
Love that paint job... ❤ beautiful truck!
my great uncles old pete used to run 160mph he bought it for 150k and it was built to be a race truck but the guy got divorced and they sold it to my great uncle. he used it to haul loads.

@@percyhill9400 sure you did. Tires are rated for 70 mph. You get over 100mph and you can hardly keep a rig on the road. Beyond that and your tires wouldnt last 20 miles

I hear these all the time since I live near a highway after all. Absolutely love the sounds of Jake brakes and I don’t get why they’re typically prohibited within city limits. 😆
What an awesome truck!! Immaculate, just love it👍👍 from New Zealand
I like the sound of the Big Radio myself! I notice a lot of the brakes used in this area where it's flat even in traffic I hear it sometimes. Id think it makes shifting a little out of sync in traffic but in the right situation there's no better sound just like this one 👍

In nearly ALL STATES it's actually ILLEGAL to run the compression brake all the time accept on steep/long hills and mountains, as well as IT'S JUST PLAIN STUPID TO RUN YOUR COMPRESSION BRAKE ALL THE TIME!!

@@brucedammann1068 Stupid may be a little too strong in this situation, but with the price of fuel continuously going up, it'll be real smart to back off of those Jakes a bit and let her coast to save fuel. A lot cheaper to change brake pads than buying super outrageously priced diesel. Absolutely gorgeous rig though.

Art on wheels 👌

From what I can find online the Caterpillar C15 6NZ was good for around 500 HP stock but could be pushed to 600+ with no real issues. Past that they needed some fuel systems 'tweaking' plus turbo and cooling systems-related work done to them to keep from overheating. 😎

I don't know the numbers for the transmission as to how many years it is but I learned how to drive on a twin stick Mack or a duplex as Mack called it but what I learned in was a grain truck and I think they called it a 3 over 4 it was a 12-speed basically you had a four-speed transmission with a low direct and high in front of it I don't think it would do nearly as fast as this truck can but it was cool to learn on and this truck in the video is an absolute beauty
Pure love right there! 👍
