Though engine braking is louder than not accelerating to max speed on suburban streets and releasing your floored gas pedal early and roll. This also saves fuel.

I haven’t heard these in a while did not know they are called Jake Brakes. They have always sounded awesome 🤩 I guess music to someone’s ears is noise to another’s.

@@willpark7483 exhaust brake: the flap after the turbo, when close it will creates pressure and engine brake effect jake brake: the additional system in camshaft, when activate it will release compressed air in compression stroke to create vacuum and engine brake effect (and sweet sound)

pretty easy to set up if you have manual transmission. newer trucks have an exhaust brake which is different but slows the truck down

I dunno why but sometimes a Jake brake makes me cry. Maybe because its suffocating the engine. And yeah I tend to anthropimorphise things So a Jake brake to me sounds like an engine suffocating and trying its best to do its job but the mean ol driver up top is closing the exaust valve and suffocating it.
