    That color combination is to die for! My all time favorite Cadillac right up there with the 1975-76 Fleetwood Tallisman...Just enough bright work to make it stand out impeccably but without being garishly overdone. The lack of the padded top, which also looks great, gives a clean, refined and updated look without the need to actually change anything! Small details like the color-keyed bumper rub strips add that special touch! Thanks for sharing!

    My father had exact same car as shown in the video, but in one-color brown paint. I drove it often when I was a teenager. It was really fun car to drive. My father allowed me to borrow it so I can go to the beach with a friend. While driving down the highway toward beach, the CHP caught me for speeding. My father was upset about it. Oh well. Looking back my teenager days of driving this car, I wish my father would give it to me and I'd keep it for 40+ years. This Cadillac is my #1 favorite car. If I had money (with wife's permission) I'd buy this car IMMEDIATELY.

    Beautifully preserved car. Love that tasteful color combination of refined seventies earthtones. Believe it or not, when this car was introduced in 1975, it was considered a compact by the standards of the time, sharing a body with the compact Chevrolet Nova, Pontiac Ventura/Phoenix, Oldsmobile Omega, and Buick Apollo/Skylark. Now, I hear it's considered mid-sized. In the mid-seventies, mid-sized cars were much bigger than this (though by 1979, downsizing had reduced them considerably).

    I think the term badge-engineering is wrong. If you understood the ground breaking technology used to develop the '76/'79 Seville into a much better road car than a same year RR you wouldn't say that. Badge engineering is a '79 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II and a Bentley T series, same car, different badges and grill? The Seville was technically a unique set-up.

    They did well with that model, and the next model of Seville's with the hunchback even though they were built on Malibu/Nova frames. However, GM tried it once too often with the Cimmaron, which Cadillac could do nothing with styling wise. Lincoln tried the same trick with the Lincoln Versailles which was built on a Ford Granada frame and got creamed in sales. You never, ever see a Lincoln Versailles.

    Love the car, but that goes without saying, what I wanted to mention was how well done the video itself was! Now, I realize that even for selling REALLY BIG $$ cars, it wouldn't make sense to hire a film crew, but so many of the videos on here from other dealers are so poorly done, heck just plain awful, they leave me thinking are you so busy that you only have time to shoot these in ONE take? Come on, I run my own biz and know the hours a small biz owner has to put in sometimes, even often, but for putting something out on youtube for the whole world to see, make some time to make at least a passable final product! Your video though I'd say is far better than just passable, it is very well done! Extra points for leaving out the usual annoying goof narrating through every last second of video, "it has power windows here you can see they go up and then they go down!"-No shit, they were standard on that model and what else would they do? Go sideways??? Very nice job on the shots, the extra effort put into the editing, etc all around well done!

    Robert, that makes my day. THANK YOU for that appreciation. I am self-employed and I do marketing for individuals and dealers. I work hard to edit and put together these cars for my clients. Its nice to hear something like that instead of just getting a check thrown at me to move on to the next car as fast as I can. I really ENJOY what I do and it takes a lot of time to do it right. My love for cars is reflected in my work I like to thank. I'm constantly trying to improve too. Wait till you see some of the things I'm working on in the next few months. Hi there Harald M. I found your comments on the Olds 350 in these Sevilles interesting. By the way, Cadillac took short motors from Olds so they could be inspected and turned over. These were still the Standard of the World days. The heads were standard, the intake a special intake manifold built at first by Bendix themselves. Not sure for how long, but then Cadillac had a department that built them themselves. They test ran them cold on chains, then hot installed in the completed car. You talk about oil burning. I run a '78 Seville Elegante daily in France. Anyway certain oil makes do burn. You know these FI cars did not have a heat crossover, not needed with fuel injection. I change my oil every 300 miles and am interested in your Olds engine experience. Been in Cadillac for 45 years, just a bit (a lot) longer than my marriages.

    The Olds engine they used in the Seville is the same crap I have in my Cutlass ........just keep an eye on the valvetrain.........Timing chain, Rocker arms and pushrods. I had to change my timing chain once, because the old one jumped several teeth. The middle rocker arms tend to collaps on Olds engines, because low quality oil burns in them due to the excessive heat of the exhaust crossover of the intake manifold. No oil flow through the pushrods means dry rocker arms and trouble for your engine,

    They were Sequentially Injected.... A very simple Electronic set-up borrowed from the Big Block "501" (1968-1976) that came in 472-500 ci displacement,it was optional on both engines...but the Quadrajet was way cheaper and won-out on most versions back in the day. Usually if the Dealer/Cadillac Production Manager ordered them up with Fuel-Injection;Mandatory additional Option Packages were the Norm....which drove the Price even further up than just the EFI stand-alone Option Box checked-off. The injectors were triggered by an additional pig-tail off the the HEI distributor.......and the simple ECM controlled duration of injector opening and cold-start fast idle,etc.....biggest problem back in the day....GM put a plug over the idle-speed mixture screw...so, over time the screw would loosen....increasing the idle speed..... quickest fix done then and now to get a proper idle....simply ditch the plug.

    what is not widely know about the first 2 yrs of the 1975-6 Seville...the sales were dismal at best so Cadillac thought it might be better to increase the price of the car if it was to compete with Mercedes Benz and dawg if Cadillac wasn't spot on not that the Seville could mechanically compete with the E class Benz for the two cars were completely different the Seville was brought out to lure would be Benz buyers back to Cadillac for the Benz wasn't a car full of frills and comfort/luxury but it was because of the Seville that Mercedes beefed up their game tho it took over 8 yrs for Mercedes to put cup holders in their cars

But my relatives in the Midwest had no interest in the Seville. My aunt had 3 devilles... No interest in the Seville at all. To the old folks who liked Cadillac's, it just wasn't big enough. I think the 76-79 models were the best design years.

  • @benzproducts
    @benzproducts6 жыл бұрын

    These came with only one engine - Oldsmobile 350 v8, then starting in 78 or 79 a diesel version of the same exact engine basically was available. It is doubtful to see any diesel versions around, these usually did not make it to 100k miles. When they did actually run, the diesel would get amazing mpg's around 30 highway.. I had a 1977 gas version, it was really smooth, got around 16 or 17 highway, around town about 10 to 12mpg. The 1980's seville had a problematic 8-6-4 engine(an effort to save gas) with cylinder deactivation, would run on 4 cyls highway - this was a 6 liter v8, also a small aluminum v8 called the ht4100 became available - i don't know if these were lemons but i remember people saying they were no good.. the gas 350 v8 was the best engine option, also was the diesel 350 if you could keep it running.
