Nobody did the NFL better than CBS in the 1960s-1980s. #GOAT

I was an NBC guy in a NFC town. Hated!!!! Hated!!!!the blackout rules and missed games here in the DFW area. Blamed CBS/Cowboys/Tex for most of that. We also missed so many national and wonderful match ups on NBC because of this too. My family also had friends working the NBC Broadcast. That being said I enjoyed any broadcast we could get during that Era.

Football in the 70's was the heyday of the NFL. - 48:53 If they had instant replay back then, Branch would've had a touchdown here.

17:25 *_"this is a very difficult place to play for the Rams today, but the Rams feel they have an advantage playin' here today"_* 🙄🤔 ... *_gotta love the late, great George Allen_* 😂

I wonder how often Vin Scully cringed with Allen's remarks. Sometimes George was spot on but too often it was just coachspeak gibberish. Really seems odd watching NBC Sports icons like Scully (MLB Game of the Week), Curt Gowdy (MLB GOTW and NFL lead announcer) and Bob Costas (practically everything at NBC for three decades) working CBS games. Seems so odd.

Next week's games include two of my all-time favorites - Oakland at Houston (the Tatum hit on Campbell) and New England at Denver (snow game). I know you have the radio call of the Houston game and a partial call of the Broncos game but I am hoping for more.

Shula walked off the field without shaking Bum’s hand?? No doubt he was disgusted but that was classless if that is what truly happened.

On this day we saw something happen that will never happen again. Rams held seahawks to minus 7 total yards.

The Rams basically did the same thing in the NFC Championship game. At times, they had a dominating defense. That was a crazy season for the Rams franchise.

Also a major news story unfolded that day (11/4/1979) was the start of an over 400 day hostage standoff with 52 Americans held hostage in Iran.

@@mediadugout2684 I was also surprised recently watching highlights from the Oakland Minnesota SB. It was an NBC game but Don Meredith was the color commentator. Then, I remembered he left ABC Monday Night Football for a few years in the mid 70s before being hired back for more money, which I assume was why he left

@@mhlaw229 Meredith got a few acting roles but ABC was reluctant to give him anything too good so NBC swooped in and hired Don away with the promise of better acting roles. I think NBC also figured this would hurt Monday Night Football and, honestly, nobody sparred with Cosell the same way Meredith did - not Alex Karras, not Fran Tarkenton, not O.J. Simpson.
